Name: Eliška Nemchak
Face claim: Touka Kirishima
Face claim series: Tokyo Ghoul
Role: Siren
Age: 17
What did they do before the apocalypse: She was placed in a Psychiatric Ward by her mother to protect her from harming herself and others.
Special talents/skills:
Art: It was one of her passions as a child, but as her life changed for the worse, so did her drawings. They’d become more detailed and morbid, expressing inner thoughts or desires; sometimes towards people.
Story Telling: Her imagination is vast, mostly accustomed to telling scary stories to her youngest brother.
Personality:
Being on the solitude side, Eliška tends to keep secrets and personal matters to herself rather than sharing them with others. There’s a somewhat charming personality to her, but deep inside she’s much much worse. She just knows how to conceal it. Being more on the protective side, Eliska would often be overly protective of her younger brother. Taking a dislike to people who would mock him or even dare lift a finger towards him.
She can be easily snapped into a mood depending on how she’s treated, and sometimes hurts people even if she means not too. Being drawn to morbid things, she often draws morbid drawings and paintings; sometimes expressing her inner thoughts through paper. This often scares other people and unsettles them. She finds it amusing to watch their reactions, loving the feeling of making people scared or pain.
Background:
Life at home was rough, her father being an alcoholic and aggressive towards her when no one was around. It put a great deal of strain on her mental state, slowly worsening and twisting her mentally. Sometime’s she didn’t even notice it, until she grew grudges against people and most importantly her father. It was after her brother informed her about being attacked by their father that she snapped. All her hallucinations of killing her father became reality, and her mind didn’t stop her. Morals didn’t hold her back from such a morbid action. (now this doesn’t mean she wasn’t smart, as she covered her tracks and he was soon known as a missing person)
At first she tried to deny the issue, convincing herself that she didn’t need help. It didn’t take long for her to admit to herself, but instead of seeking help she accepted her state as normal. After her father’s disappearance, her mother broke down and went in search of another job.Soon she was offered one and they moved out of their native country. After the move, her mother began to fear her daughter and was away from them a lot, leaving Eliska to run the house and be the guardian of her brother.
In time, her personality became more alluring, and more secrets were kept. She has a strong passion to inflict fear on others, lurring people in until it’s too late to turn back, sometimes even going as far as dealing with the people who mess with her. She’s unafraid to play with knifes if she has to ;)
Extra: not really, just that the song on this blog explains my character perfectly and is what inspired this oc.

Name: Momotarou Shinohara
Age: 17
Face Claim: Juuzou Suzuya
Face Claim Series: Tokyo Ghoul
What did they do before the Apocalypse?:
He lived with his mother and twin brother.
Special Skills/Talents:
-He’s skilled at gardening and sewing.
-He’s particularly flexible and can move quickly.
Extra [Anything we should know.]:
-He idolizes his mother & will often speak to her and seek her approval even though she has long since been deceased.
-He, more or less, acts like a puppy in regards of being told what to do. Basically, he’s looking for a master.
-The only one he will listen to other than the one he dubs his “master” is his brother, Yuuma, whom he is very fond of.
-If it isn’t apparent by now, he isn’t right in the head.
Personality:
It is quite apparent that something just isn’t right. Be it the eerie grin almost constantly plastered over pale features, the madly curious gleam in his eyes or the ghostly cackle his amusement provides, Momotarou is not a boy that one would willfully choose to be around. Energetic and friendly by way of nature, Tarou will go out of his way to speak to others because of his curiosity toward people. He will call another a friend by false definition, but if instructed to do so, will happily attack whomever as he lacks the ability to care for others or understand why physically injuring others is morally incorrect.
Tarou is also something of a puppet looking for a “master” to replace his mother because he mistakes negative attention as affection, going so far as to intentionally get on people’s bad side by acting out, purposefully breaking things and poking at weak points. If he finds someone to take his desired role, he’ll listen happily to them without complaint no matter the task. The only person he’ll listen to other than a “master” is his brother, Yuuma, who is the closest person he can feel genuine love for.
Background:
*triggers include: child and animal abuse, abuser glorification.
The life of two twin boys began with passionate, love drunk teenagers that found a physical attraction for each other and decided to pursue their virile desires. Nine months along came two children, custody papers and a lawsuit for child support. The eighteen year old father wanted nothing to do with his offspring and the nineteen year old mother was left to care for them. Did she do so? To the authorities, who took the phrase ‘care for’ as proper clothing, three meals a day and proper paperwork, yes. To any proper parent? Of course not.
As the years went by, Tarou and Yuuma were treated as servants by their mother. Anything done in the wrong, a mistake to be slipped, or a word out of turn and their mother prepared the most cruel of punishments. Ice baths, hands to sit upon the stove, and cleaning shattered glass with their bare hands was a weekly thing to be had. During nights of sleeping in the shed, Tarou discovered the gardening tools and would often take them out back and care for the garden, which his mother didn’t approve of, but she received wonderful feedback from the neighborhood, so she let it slide.
Every now and then, neighborhood animals would come to the garden and after Tarou was caught feeding them, he was ordered to kill whatever came into the garden as they were distracting him from his duties. Eventually, after years of doing this, he found solace in the act as it was appeasing their mother, and this was something he wished for more than anything. As long as Momma was happy, he was happy. He still currently lives with his mother and brother as a happy puppet, wishing to please his mother by any means necessary.

Name: Akira ‘Tomi’ Tominaga
Role: Study buddy
Age: 21
Face Claim: Yogi
Face Claim Series: Karneval
What did they do before the Apocalypse?: Mechanical engineering student
Special Skills/Talents: Good with machinery, knowledgeable on varied subjects for survival.
Extra[Anything we should know.]: He has an old cellphone he carries with him that he fears losing.
Personality[2 paragraph minimum]:
Cheerful and flighty, Tomi speaks in a strange tone despite always appearing relaxed. He has nervous patterns, speaking softly and calmly in one instant and shouting excitedly in another. He is a paradox of a person, claiming to be one thing yet behaving as another. Half of this is a guise used to keep others in the dark of how well he can read people, and half is simply because he genuinely is that bizarre.
He has many tics and quirks to him, prone to always keeping his hands busy. He also likes to spend hours taking apart and putting back things to learn how they work, always wondering how the parts fit into the whole of many things. Though he acts friendly towards anyone, he only considers a select few his true friends and wouldn’t hesitate to backstab others.
Background[2 paragraph minimum]:
Tomi claims to have been born in Japan, yet this is in fact another lie. He was born in the suburbs of Queens, New York, as Joshua St. John to normal parents and a kind older brother. He spent the first years of his life slowly destroying his family life without realizing it, left with only himself and his older brother.
After a series of events, he ended up homeless and alone in Japan until he was taken in by a temple’s caretaker, taught how to write Japanese and soon left to work part time in a cafe and learn mechanical engineering under the assumed name of Akira Tominaga.

TRIGGERS: Mental Illness, Depression
Name: Sena Tachibana
Role: Study Buddies
Age: 18 years old
Face Claim: Shiena Kenmochi
Face Claim Series: Akuma no Riddle
What did they do before the Apocalypse?: A freshman in college majoring in medicine
Special Skills/Talents:
Drawing. Years of doodling in class paid off.
A moderate amount of Stamina from her days of swimming.
Extras:
Sena is prone to panic attacks. While her ‘dream occupation’ requires her to be calm and collected at critical times, she still would have a series of episodes mostly caused by things not going in her way and fearing for the worst case scenario.
She has a history of ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and in spite of her constant denials, is still suffering from it.
Sena has a younger sister called Hiro (natakus’ OC)
Personality:
Generally, Sena is a quiet girl. Yet she tends to be very impulsive at times; speaking whatever comes in her mind first or jumps into action without thinking. Her restlessness is something she always try to cover up as she intends to look mature and calm. She is also extremely introverted and tries to be independent all the time. Her pessimistic nature would sometimes lead to her panic attacks,
Despite the strong, willful front she struggles to hold, Sena always felt like she’s a failure; she always gets overwhelmed by the simplest things, and her inattentiveness sometimes get mistaken for being aloof. Sena feels like she doesn’t have a place in the family due to her learning problem in the past, so she tries to make it up by studying really hard. But this doesn’t necessarily means she doesn’t have her lazy days where she would blame her condition for everything instead.
Background:
Being the eldest daughter of the rich Tachibana family, Sena grew up in a very strict environment; etiquette comes first, and studies following closely after that. However, this was extremely challenging for the girl as she always had trouble paying attention. She also tends to space out a lot in school, and cannot stay still while sitting. This caused her to fail a grade, ultimately leaving Sena in the same grade as Hiro, her younger sister. Her distant relatives would always speak in a hushed manner around her, commenting how could a family famous for their genius members (her father is a famous attorney, and her grandfather is a world renowned internist surgeon) could have an idiot for a daughter.
Her concerned family finally took her to the family’s psychiatrist only to find that their daughter was suffering from ADD. As a well-known family, of course her parents covered the whole thing up from everyone, including the maids. Sena was given a daily medication of Ritalin, prompting her grades to gradually get better. But this didn’t last long as her grandfather was aware of the side-effects Ritalin caused and stopped her from consuming it after several months. He instead encouraged her to join her school’s sport team so she could channel her ‘extra’ energy someplace else. Sena decided to join the swim team.
At first, Sena’s grades started to crumble down once more. Her friends began to see her as an idiot, and she had problems with the teachers; be it about her habit of drawing while they’re explaining, or her tardiness in both collecting her assignments and going to school in general. It didn’t take long for Sena to spiral down into depression, with an impossibly high expectation from everyone that she had to reach. The only person she could vent her feelings to was her grandfather until he passed away in the age of 75, when Sena was about to enroll in high school.
Surprisingly, this became the turning point in Sena’s life; she realized that her condition is something that she can fight against. Even if it can’t be cured, she can still work hard to get better grades. Sena began forcing herself to study to the point of not sleeping the night before the test. She also continued her career in the swim team.
The plan succeeded, as Sena got into the Top 10 in her grade consecutively. Knowing that her grandfather would’ve wanted her to become a doctor like him, she discarded her dream of getting into an Art School and major in medicine instead.

Name: Xyn Arye
Role: ???
Face Claim: Mizuki
Face Claim Series: Dramatical Murder
What did they do before the Apocalypse?: He was a con artist and occasional pickpocket.
Special Skills/Talents: Very good at lying/acting.
Extra: He’s also not too terrible at fighting, since a lot of people he conned tended to hold grudges, and he’s gotta find a way out of that somehow.
Personality: Xyn considers himself very easy to get along with, and it’s not a lie. He’s very easy-going and it’s extremely difficult for him to get upset or angry. That being said, he isn’t capable of showing those emotions very well. He laughs when he’s nervous or upset, so it’s hard to tell if he’s being his usual self or not. Sometimes he can properly express emotions, but most times it’s with laughter or smiles. It’s habit for him. Hopefully those who get to know him well enough will eventually be able to tell if he needs consoling or not. And if you do get to know him well? He’ll be incredibly loyal to you. Regardless of his con artist past, he doesn’t lie unless it’s necessary. He’s overly cheery and trusting to a fault. It’d be easy to manipulate someone like him, but he could definitely manage to lie or act his way out of most things if he sees necessary. Xyn is a person who would be really good at helping to boost morale, and he’d go out of his way to comfort others who needed it. He has no sense of personal space, he’s very touchy to those who he becomes close with. Conceited might also describe him, slightly. He has no self-esteem issues most of the time, but occasionally he’ll get into states where he needs a lot of reassurance. When he’s under stress, he gets very nervous and overwhelmed and has a tendency to over-apologize.
Background: It’s actually surprising how someone with Xyn’s past can seem so upbeat all the time. Happiness wasn’t common for him after his mother had died and he had never known his father. So he ended up alone, with the exception of his younger sibling. Yet, he always had to keep up appearances for his brother. He had to pretend everything was alright for him, but when you do something like that for so long, it’s easy for someone to fall apart. Xyn was only fourteen when his mother passed, and his younger brother was five. It wasn’t an easy thing caring for him, especially considering that five year olds aren’t the most rational and understanding of people.
Eventually they were found out by their neighbors, were reported to child protective services and had to be sent to foster home after foster home. None treated them nicely. Once Xyn was 18, he was able to leave and adopted his brother. It wasn’t easy caring for someone as their guardian at only 18, but Xyn did the best he could. He managed briefly before, and now that his brother was older it was a lot easier than it had been.
It wasn’t a moral thing he did, but he and his brother managed to pull off a lot of cons. Now that his brother was old enough to understand how things worked, he was able to go along with most things Xyn suggested. It’s how they paid for rent and food. If he couldn’t pull one off, he’d resort to just pickpocketing. He only did it to care for his brother as best as he could. Providing not money for just food and rent, but for school fees, medical expenses, and small things to make his brother happy. Those things aren’t cheap, and Xyn never bought anything for himself, but it’s worth it to see his younger brother living the nicest life he’s able to at this time.
Though, neglecting himself so much has taken a negative toll on him. Due to the trauma of seeing his mothers dead body at such a young age, he cannot correctly process emotions. He also keeps personal things to himself, especially if they’re serious or important problems. He feels as if he has everything under control, but sometimes the world comes crashing down around him. Breakdowns are a common occurrence with Xyn, but he always manages to keep it together until no one else is around. He doesn’t want to be vulnerable, and doesn’t consider any of his problems too terrible. He knows he has to put on a brave face for his brother, he has to be a good older sibling. All he really wants, though, is for someone to care about and comfort him.
On a more moral and positive note, Xyn also likes to take in stray cats and dogs he finds, and cares for them until someone calls in to adopt them. Of course he wishes their mother was still around. Things would’ve been so much easier, and he’d hope she’d be proud of him, even with the conning and stealing. (And you know, she probably would be.) He misses her everyday, and tells stories about things she had done in the past, how great of a person she was, and really anything positive about her. He doesn’t want to forget about her.
When Xyn’s not caring for his brother and a few pets, or pulling off cons, he does manage to have a few flings. Nothing serious, nothing long-lasting. In fact, his longest relationship was only around three months. He’s fond of one night stands. It’s definitely shallow, but he tries to go out with people who make a decent amount of money.
Regarding friendships, there’s a few people he hangs around at times, but he’s not very close to anyone besides his brother. Xyn is a very “all or nothing” kind of person. If you’re acquaintances, it’s unlikely he’ll try to strengthen that bond. If you’re friends, good friends, he’ll do absolutely anything for you.

Name: Kasuka Yu
Role: Nonfiction Otaku (Extra)
Face Claim: Seki Masumi
Face Claim Series: Oyasumi Punpun
What did they do before the Apocalypse?:
He’s a steady college student, but due to his lack of help and stubborn attitude toward loans, he pays for one class at a time and has found himself work at a pizza delivery service.
Special Skills/Talents:
He can display rational thought in heated situations.
Due to his distaste of fictional works but appreciation of gained knowledge, Kasuka knows a considerable amount of useless facts that could, every once in a while, become handy.
Extra:
N/A
Personality:
Introverted by way of nature, Kasuka is the type to keep to himself rather than feeling pressured into making friends. This is not to say that he’s a shy individual, but rather feels no need to force himself to create bonds with others. He’s a curious creature, often wondering how things are made and why they’re useful instead of taking them as they are. This has prompted him to collect a wide variety of books on many different topics, though he’s taken a special interest in physical science, philosophy and other social sciences. While fictional books aren’t as interesting to him, he does enjoy picking up the occasional tall tale that challenges popular societal views and belief systems.
When interacting with others, he has a habit of being elusive, cold and at times dryly sarcastic, though if he’s wrapped into conversing, he’ll usually open up and become quite opinionated. He likes to keep his conversational partner reminded of the fact that everyone is different, solely for the purpose of easing any conflict that might stir. If negativity happens to arise, he’ll get annoyed at the conflict but has the ability to walk away from a tense situation without feeling ill-will toward the opposing person. Kasuka can also think quickly and rationally in time of need, which makes him a solid person to resolve conflicts that don’t concern him.
While he’s typically quiet on his own personal feelings (other than opinionated views), he attempts to give subtle hints that he does indeed care about others.
Background:
*Triggering content: abusive family situations.
At a young age, Kasuka was kept in the primary care of his mother. While they weren’t living with much and typically kept isolated from others, they lived happily in the company of each other. The two of them shared a world of imagination and creativity, and his mother was the real package deal. A parent, a friend, and a teacher, he grew up curious and ready to explore the wonders of the world with his companion. His father was also present, as legally agreed to be every other weekend after a lax custody trial. He was not as friendly of a parent as his mother; a little impatient and a bit too harsh with punishments (like making him eat things he was allergic to or locking him in the trunk of his car). While there was no negative feeling toward his father at all even after these deeds were performed, he was always much too frightened to leave his mother’s side, if only for three days.
It wasn’t until nine years old that Kasuka had met another, older male figure in his life. At first he was nothing but the neighbor that the younger had only heard tall tales about — kind, but loud, and working constantly. He became a friendly figure, often finding time to play before or after work. These heartwarming scenes of child and adult playing basketball or pretending to be great explorers gained a considerable amount of respect from his mother and after so many rejected dates and one eventual acceptance, mother Saiko and elder friend Heiji were engaged to be married. The night of the wedding was one his mother had not prepared for. A stern hand and an angrily guided voice lead her to believe that the man she finally came to accept was not who he claimed to be. As one who believed marriages were final, she kept the thought in mind that he could change.
As summertime came around, so did his children from his previous relationship, and Kasuka was very happy to have the ability to play with kids within a reasonable age group to his own, even if only for one season during the year. During the other nine months when they went back to their mother’s custody way back in Hokkaido, the three of them remained and the child found himself lonelier to play on his own, unlike before. His newly appointed step-father was much too tired and after a serious car accident his mother got involved in, she was no longer in the proper condition to go about her normal adventures with her son. His real father was normally away on business and could no longer see him every other weekend per previous agreements; after so many switched girlfriends and one too many times of calling them the name of the last, he felt it best not to stay with them anymore either. Instead, age eleven Kasuka kept to himself in his room, reading books he’d received from his teachers, trying to drown out the crashes and angered voices coming from the family room.
Several years came and went and death bells loomed over the marriage as a result from misdirected anger and the strong will of a controlling man. Age fourteen lead to many confusing and upsetting things and if it weren’t for his home life, it was for his school life and personal conflicts. He questioned living with his true father on multiple occasions, to which the reply he received was the shocking “he wouldn’t want you there; why do you think you got your mother’s last name?” and eventually, simply “I am your real father.” Of course neither were true, and his birth parent was much calmer and more concerned for his son now, but was never given a chance due to the lies that were told. His calls went to answering machines, his visits to a locked door.
After two years, Kasuka’s mother finally had enough of the marriage and planned to leave. With the help of relatives and friends, everything was packed and sent away in secret up until the last day when everything else was moved out during his time at work. He felt a little more adult now, deciding to try getting a job to help with his mother, who was now too ill to work after the accident. An additional three years and nothing had drastically changed other than his living situation, Kazuka found steady work as a pizza delivery boy to pay for his college tuition.

Name: Galaxy “Axy” Miller
Role: Extra (Mechanic)
Age: 23
Face Claim: Badou Nails
Face Claim Series: Dogs: Bullets And Carnage
What did they do before the Apocalypse?: Worked as an airplane mechanic, travelled the world, and smoked a lot.
Special Skills/Talents:
If he tinkers with something for long enough, Axy can fix pretty much anything from faulty wires and structural issues to a broken heart.
He’s surprisingly good at cheering people up, thanks to the brave face and smile he always puts on.
Not a bad shot with a bow and arrow.
Extra: He smokes cigarettes. Like… a lot. So many cigarettes. Axy’s been all over the world thanks to his job and parents, so he knows a little bit of quite a few languages. He can say hello in about 30 different languages, although he mostly speaks English and Japanese. Blind in his right eye, and some damaged nerves in his right hand. (Also has really nice hair).
Personality:
There was a running gag between him and his sister where she called him “Onii-chan” that somehow spread to most of the girls he knew. Galaxy- Axy, as he goes by- is the kind of person you can depend on no matter what you need. For as long as he can remember, he’s enjoyed fixing things, and he’d say the happiest day of his life was the first time he built his very own working car. His love of repairs goes beyond machinery though; Axy is the quintessence of an older brother. Considering he’s got a sister 5 years younger and a brother 11 years younger than him, he didn’t have much time to be the favourite or the spoiled one. It never soured his cheery disposition, though; if anything, getting siblings only made him happier.
That doesn’t mean he’s always an entirely happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He’s seen things. Now, he sees a few less things with one less eye. He knows the world is messed up (it’s been messed up since way before the apocalypse, let’s be honest), but he does his best to be strong for everyone else. That said, he’s far from all talk. He believes the best way to solve a problem is to just beat his head against it until it goes away. He’s incredibly stubborn, refuses to give up or let anyone else give up, and he has a will of steel. He’s pretty hard to get riled up, but once he gets going, there’s no stopping him. He tends to vent his anger by just rambling on, sometimes about things completely unrelated, and in times of extreme distress, he’ll lock himself up in his workshop and just tinker with things.
Background:
Axy’s great-great grandparents were Irish immigrants, and while his great grandparents and grandparents kept their traditions alive, his parents were the exact opposite. They were both free spirits that wanted to travel the world and expose their son to all kinds of cultures. By the time he was 4, he’d been to three different countries, six different amusement parks, and seen 2 oceans. His parents never seemed content to stay in one place for very long, but they always seemed to prefer tiny little towns as opposed to big cities. He often went on ‘adventures’ where he and his father would go out with a bow and arrow and hunt deer, squirrells, rabbits, or whatever they could find. After his little sister was born, Axy developed a love of superheroes, and always swooped in to rescue her from all kinds of danger. Everything from boys to bugs, he was there to protect her.
By the time he reached his teens, Axy had a reputation for being the ‘go to guy’ whenever someone needed something fixed. He may not have been a whiz kid, but he knew his way around technology and mechanics and even though he rarely stayed in one school for very long, everyone knew it. Most of the other kids looked up to him, although there was always the ‘playful’ soulless ginger jab no matter how old he got or what school he went to. When his sister turned 14, she decided she wanted to be a popular kid, and, of course, big brother had to help. At first, she wanted to learn how to do hair, so he started to grow his out so that she could experiment. And then when she wanted to get her belly button pierced, she was afraid it’d hurt, so he got his done with her. When it came to his little brother, Axy did his best to teach him to always be kind, to look out for girls, and to take a stand against bullies. While he wasn’t perfect- his report cards being a good indication- Galaxy did his best when it came to the things he thought were important, and more than anything, he protected his friends and family.
To celebrate his getting hired as an airplane mechanic for a majour airline, the family moved to the big city. It was a whole new world to the kids who’d grown up where there were more trees than people. He offered to take his little sister out shopping, and on their way back to their new home, they became victims of a mugging. Axy had asked his sister to carry the bags so that he could have a smoke when he saw a shady looking guy approach, knife drawn and poised at her. He managed to push her out of the way, but ended up getting cut severely over his right eye- the injury he keeps covered with an eyepatch. The scar on his hand came from the same incident, when the knife went completely through. Thankfully the excitement ended there, as police soon arrived and Axy was able to get hospital care. Since then, he’s been even more considerate of people as he believes it wouldn’t have happened had he just carried the bags instead, and an undeniable rift grew between him and his sister.
A year later, around the time he turned 22, his family moved to some far off town and Axy stayed in the city for work. He tried to keep in contact with them for a while, but they all seemed to be busy. His sister’s graduation was just around the corner, and his little brother was involved in about a million different clubs and sports. If he knew what would have happened to the world, Axy would have gone to see them before everything went to hell.

What did they do before the Apocalypse?: Pursuing photography in university.
Special Skills/Talents:
A keen eye, Umi is very observant of her surroundings and notices the smallest of details that might prove to be vital later on.
Lying, despite her hatred towards it Umi is a habitual liar to the point sometimes she herself doesn’t know it. She can use this skill to convince people to do certain things.

Quick, both her thinking and her physical abilities like running or reflexes are quick. Throughout school life Umi was often the fastest of the girls in her grade in terms of finishing tests as well as races.
Extra: Umi brings her mothers old camera everywhere she goes, despite it not having any film. She uses it to look at things farther in the distance using “zoom”, and occasionally pretends to take photo’s when she see’s something beautiful or interesting. Umi also carries her mother’s album that contains a number of photo’s her mother took throughout her life. Umi is quite possessive over it, and if anyone were to try and take it, let alone touch it Umi would not be very impressed. That being said, she would not leave it behind no matter the situation.
Personality:
In short: Blunt, insensitive, prejudice, creative, intelligent, stubborn.
As a child, Umi was cheerful and got along with other children quite well, in fact one might even say she was popular. Her marks were far above average and she often helped her classmates. Umi was had a very keen eye and often noticed the slightest details others would miss even after a long period of time staring at something. She had an open heart and gave off a friendly aura and eventually developed somewhat of a photographic memory. Umi showed skills in the dramatic arts despite her dislike towards it, and developed a habit of lying. She was so good at it, no one knew when she was lying or not, sometimes not even her. This habit of lying eventually grew, and she would lie even when she didn’t mean to.
The first time her father hit her mother, Umi was shocked. When it didn’t stop she slowly developed a hatred towards her father. It didn’t take long for Umi to step in when Shuu was aggressive with her mother. Umi took the bulk of the beatings more often than not to protect her mother, even so not a single person would have ever known. No one could have ever guessed the rough life she had at home. She concealed the marks from several hits, and her attitude remained the same— Perhaps only a little bit more sensitive to touch.
Once her father left, Umi became colder towards anyone aside from her mother. The trust she had held in her father had been broken several times, and took a tole on how she trusted others. The only person Umi felt she could trust, was her mother. She was uncertain of everyone else, they too might just betray her, which was exactly what was to happen. Following her mother’s death, at first, Umi was a complete wreck. Her grades fell, she isolated herself from classmates and her attitude became even more harsh. Her bluntness became more and more noticeable to the point others couldn’t stand it. Her marks and attitude continued to plummet. Before she knew it, everyone who had ever referred to themselves as her “friend” despised her. Hate became something Umi was used to, to her such a feeling was nothing more than indifference. She didn’t care if she was hated, because at this time there was nothing left to live for.
After finding her mothers old photo album, Umi got her act together. Her grades shot up far better than before, she was the top of her class. She still had a cold heart, and rarely trusted others but she was going to follow in her mothers footsteps. She was determined to do so. Umi won a scholarship, and was given the chance pursue photography in university. At current time, she is a very stubborn girl who refuses to give up so easily. Her trust issues are better but will never be the same. She is selfish and will put herself before others, unless she considers them someone valuable. Though it is hard to gain her trust, when she does grow to care and trust someone she will go to whatever lengths she needs to to protect both herself and them. Her bluntness if anything has increased and comes across as mean more than honesty. To some extent, she is rather prejudice. Umi became more critical of herself and others in negative points of view. Her outlook on death is quite neutral, when a person dies they just die, Umi thinks nothing of it. With her history in the arts, Umi has a rather creative outlook on things and is able to think of alternate possibilities where others could only think of one.
Background:
Umi grew up in a rather ordinary family. Her mother, Sayaka, was a photographer who was quite well known among the art industry. And her father, Shuu, was a director. At a rather young age Umi showed a strong interest in photography and dreamt of following in the footsteps of her mother. However, her father wasn’t all that fond of the idea of Umi going into the field of photography. Despite her father’s lack of support towards Umi and her goal, Sayaka stood by Umi no matter her life goals. As time went one Umi always favoured her mother, of course her father only grew more and more frustrated with Umi’s determination to follow in her mother’s footsteps. To the point he would yell even when Umi was in the room that he was the one supporting the family. He was the one who kept them out of financial struggles. He held this family together. The more stressed her father became, the lazier he got. He blamed anything he possibly could on Sayaka’s poor health that began worsening around Umi’s second year in middle school. Shuu blamed Umi’s mother to the point he would occasionally throw a few punches here and there, whenever Umi interfered she was the one who received the bulk of the beating. Eventually Umi took on dramatic arts with hopes to please her father who had been pressuring her to do so for years.
Despite Umi’s attempts to fix her father behaviour, nothing seemed to change. Simply by looking at her, Umi seemed perfectly fine as she concealed her heavy emotions deep down within her. If anything he grew lazier and more abusive to the point at which he stopped going to work. Upon leaving a large dept for Sayaka to deal with, Umi’s father abandoned them. With Sayaka’s job as a photography not bringing enough money, Umi tried working herself while still in highschool, and Sayaka’s mother took on a second job. However, it didn’t last long before Sayaka’s mother collapsed due to overworking herself. Eventually around that same time, she passed away.
Following the death of her mother, and the abandonment of her father Umi’s personality took a twist in the wrong direction. A girl who was once quite popular among other kids became cold and distant. Eventually, she was the girl everyone hated due to her cruel honestly and bluntness. The girl who’s marks were once near the top of the class took a huge drop near bottom. At the time, Umi felt helpless. As if nothing in her life was even worth it at the time. However, upon finding an old photo album of her mothers, Umi felt a part of her mother. It was as if she was telling her “Don’t give up”. In her last two years of highschool Umi pulled herself together, better than she was before. Her marks were top notch, and her attitude slightly changed— though she remained a lone wolf —and eventually Umi made it to university on a scholarship following her dream of becoming a photographer.
