To be a woman is to sometimes feel unseen—one of a hundred quiet truths I hear every day, yet deeply feel within myself. Whenever I try to excel at something, I am often met with the remark, “Babae ka kasi kaya magaling ka d’yan,” as if my effort is simply a byproduct of my gender. What they fail to see is the relentless work behind every achievement. I have pushed myself to the edge, carving through doubt and exhaustion just to let my capabilities surface and create something meaningful. Yes, I have been belittled. Still, I chose to rise—higher and louder. Yet the higher I soared, the more I was told I was doing too much. But perhaps the real question is this: was I truly doing too much, or were they simply settling for less?
