Dear Rising Juniors
DON’T YOU DARE PANIC ABOUT COLLEGE LOGISTICS YET. sure, think about where you want to go to school, prep for the sat, do well, all that jazz, but don’t agonize. there will be plenty of that next year.
Just a heads-up for Appblrs -- I know a lot of you are really interested in studying in NYC, and there's a great program that I haven't seen talked about at all in the community. Macauley Honors is incredibly selective (~10% acceptance rate? I've heard of people picking it over NYU and Cornell) and it's part of the CUNY system, which has some very good colleges. Macauley kids get priority for the dorms, so are basically guaranteed a spot, and even though they must declare a home college, I believe they can take classes from any four-year college in the system. They can create their own majors, and the best part: it's free. Yup, tuition and room and board are all covered, PLUS they give you a stipend and a MacBook Air, which you have the option of buying in junior year for a dollar. It's kind of the best thing ever. Just wanted to let y'all know, because I never hear of anyone talking about it.
