The water.
It's been rising for a while.. But it wasn't supposed to rise this fast. It was so sudden.
I had been visiting some of my spiders in Snowdin when it happened. There was panic as homes were flooded. Monsters who's never had to swim before being swept away by the surge. Screams of families trying to save their loved ones, only for their efforts to be rewarded with their own futile deaths.
Those of use who were lucky enough to have gathered our own, or selfish enough to leave their own behind, grabbed anything that floated, a desperate attempt at survival.
The water was rapid, easily pulling monsters down to their doom if their grip wasn't tight enough. Crying, screeching. If you looked up closely during the chaos, you'd see it. A small gap on the ceiling of the underground.
A bad idea. A death trap.
Our only option.
There was no time to try paddling further towards the direction of New Home, we had only seconds, with other protruding rocks on the ceiling blocking any clear path. It was a tight squeeze, scraping up those who scrambled to climb through.
Though, not everyone could make it through the gap in such a short amount of time...
...
Inside, an intricate cave system, similar to our home below. But much, MUCH smaller. Covered in strange plants.
The water stopped as it reached the entrance, forming an air pocket.
We live here now.
I could leave... Try to go for help. Possibly find some of my poor spiderlings along the way... Maybe see if they managed to find a safe haven as I had.
...
The sounds coming from down under the water....
They're terrifying.
