     “ you really drew the short straw with this one.” it felt like it had been an eternity since he had heard anything that wasn’t just the hum of the SUV’s engine and hearing his own voice echoed back at him felt not unlike a slap to the face. roman grimaced, eyes flicking out the window rather than make eye contact. jane’s colleagues seemed to make it a point to avoid him at any cost, not that roman blamed them but since he was released into jane’s care, he was required to have an escort of at least two agents whenever he left the safe house or the federal building.

A scoff escaped his lips at the same time he rolled his eyes at the other. Not a surprise an agent would say something like that. “Unfortunately for you, I’m your only shot ──And goddamn it! We’re doin’ it my way or I’m out.””
