Today is International Coffee Day!

Perhaps not everyone knows that Europe's first coffee shops were established in Venice: it was here that the aroma of coffee first conquered the Old Continent, thanks to the Venetian Republic's trade with the East.

During the 18th century, coffee shops became meeting places open to citizens of all social backgrounds.

Even today, in St. Mark's Square, Caffè Florian (the oldest Italian caffé since December 29, 1720), Caffè Quadri (since the 1770s), and Caffè Lavena (since 1750) preserve their period furnishings and atmosphere, bearing witness to the centuries-old bond between Venice and this much-loved beverage.

Canned coffee?? What do you take me for, an American?? I don't drink that dirt water. I drink real coffee. I have a cappuccino after breakfast and an espresso after lunch and dinner. That or a caffè ristretto if I've had a long day. Only true, authentic, homemade Italian coffee will do. Spirit or not, you clearly haven't had a proper caffè before. Go to Italy. Just... Go to Italy. You'll never touch that crap again.
