A thousand kisses and huggs." ~Joanelle Romero Honoring Rita Rogers, "Wamble Win" aka Eagle Woman January 10, 1936 - June 11 2012 Born Ida Mae Aragon in Albuquerque New Mexico January 10, 1936 to Ramon and Cecelia Aragon, (later step-father Wesley Speak) of Spanish Jew and Apache descent. She started her career doing plays with her father in-law and daughter. She made her stage debut as a showgirl in Vegas in numerous shows, and then moved on to Hollywood to become a movie star. "Well, I started working extra to support my family, because I always had the goal to be an actress and director and everything, you know. A superstar that's what I wanted to be" ~Rita Rogers. "Rita Rogers loved Hollywood and loved show business," stated her eldest daughter Joanelle Romero, an established Award winning filmmaker, actress, record producer, musician, entrepreneur and humanitarian. "She left behind her film projects which our family will produce in order to keep her dream alive." In 1968, she went to Peru to represent the United States in film, she was treated like royalty and with great respect, it was one of the highlights of her life. Rita meeting Dennis Hopper and Dean Stockwell on the MGM lot while making Elvis Presley films went on to became close friends. Dennis Hopper later became a legal guardian to her eldest daughter Joanelle Romero (at age 12) and Hopper often quoted being a parent to her youngest daughter Desiree Romero. Her other film roles that she appeared in the 1960s, 70's and 80's included Robert Mitchum "The Sundowners" (1960) - James Coburn "Our Man Flint" (1966) - Lee Marvin & John Cassavetes The Dirty Dozen (1967) - William Holden "The Devils Brigade" (1968) - Samuel Peckinpah's with William Holden & Warren Oates The Wild Bunch (1969) - Lee Van Cleef and Stephanie Powers "Magnificent Seven Ride" (1972) - Ed Bagley Jr. Dean Martin and Rock Hudson "Showdown" (1973) - Tom Cruise "Losin It" (1983) to name a few .... Television roles includes: Earnest Borgnine "McHale's Navy" (1962), David Carridine "Kung Fu" The Spirit Helper (1973), David Wopler's mini-series "The Mystic Warrior" (1982) on ABC television, where she co-starred with her daughter Joanelle Romero in 1984. She continued to live her dream in directing and producing with her friend Rod Rogers; they directed/produced "Breathe of Fire" an anti-bullfighting documentary which screened at Atlanta Georgia Film Festival 1974, they produced "Galaxy of Stars" for Nosotros which aired on CBS television as a special and in 1975 Rod Rogers cast her in a starring role in "A Time to Remember". Something she always gave her children was their legacy to their heritage of Apache and Cheyenne descent. Chief Leonard Crow Dog gave her her Indian name "Wamble Win (Eagle Woman)." In 2004, she was diagnosed with liver cancer. She leaves behind her children Joanelle Romero, Robby Romero, Desiree Romero and seven grand-children: Sage Galesi, Dakota Romero, Montono Rain, Lauren Winder, River, Cheyenne and Seqeouia Romero.
