Arroyo Seco’s Food Program Could Be A Fest Game Changer
At this point in music-festival land, adding good food to great music is sort of par for the course. But at this weekend’s Arroyo Seco festival in Pasadena, organizers have next-levelled food options by adding buy-in-advance picnic baskets from chefs like Roy Choi and Dakota Weiss, creating another meal class that’s somewhere in between the local-food-from-stands single-serve meals and the Outstanding In The Field-style fancy dinners that have become de rigour at music fests. It makes sense: the lineup skews older than, say, Coachella, which means that if parents are bringing their young kids for boomer icons like Tom Petty, newer-but-mellow bands like Alabama Shakes and Dawes, and throwback ‘90s artists like Live and Weezer, that they can have it be a day-in-the-park style event rather than a madhouse. It runs expensive-but-not-crazy at $100-$120 per basket (for a 2-person meal, though if it’s as pictured above it seems like that can be stretched to 3 or 4 light eaters), and could be a buy-ahead option that, if it works, could prove to be a quickserve trend in the crowded fest-food world going forward. More food pics from Arroyo Seco tomorrow! Meanwhile, here’s the full food lineup for the fest.

HAHA where’s rowan crying
he’s based on ralph garci from fame. aka my child. the light of my life, my sunshine. I JUST LOVE HIM. his story is basically the same as ralph’s so i won’t get into that but i just!!! love how he copes. with humor and sarcasm and self deprecation but he still feels everything so deeply and he’s so loyal to those he cares about and truly what a gift. he’s got a lot of anger bottled up that he really doesn’t know how to deal with in a healthy way and also he and day are soul mates forever and ever amen thanks.
“HOW DO CHEFS FIND INSPIRATION FROM THEIR TRAVELS?”
0/7 :( That said, the intent of the post, I think, is to promote a chef-fy event in Santa Monica, in which all the folks quoted are participating. There aren’t that many women in that event, so I suppose it’s not a surprise that the disparity in turn is reflected here.
