Every few months I just do a quick Google of Sherlock Holmes 3 to see if we’re any closer to getting Jude and Robert back. And we never fucking are. I’m this close to just sliding into a pit of despair. I have been actively waiting for this movie for over four years. Where is it. I need it. I’m going to fight Warner Bros in hand to hand combat. I need my homoerotic Holmes/Watson dynamic. I need Jude Law with that moustache and that little Watsonian spark of madness. I need it. I’m begging. Where the fuck is it. I’m going to scream.

I feel like Holmes and Watson both decided to essentially adopt each other but for vastly different reasons. Like, Watson looked at Holmes and was like “this guy clearly hasn’t slept in a month. He probably forgets to feed himself and only eats every other week. Somebody ought to keep an eye on him.” Whereas I feel like Holmes definitely looked at Watson and just went “this kid won’t last five minutes in London. They’ll eat him alive. He needs somebody to watch his back.”

One of my favourite things about Sherlock adaptations is that Mary is so goddamn aware of how in love Holmes and Watson are, and she just like, let’s them get on with it.

Like, in The Sign Of Four Stage Show, she has a whole paragraph near the end about the fact that she understands how much John and Sherlock need each other and she won’t try and get between them because that wouldn’t be fair (if it’s even possible for her to get between them, which she doubts).

And then in RDJ Holmes we get the whole “I know you care about him as much as I do” which is pretty telling when you consider Mary and Watson are literally engaged to be married at this point, so Mary is like “yeah, i know you’d marry him if you could, buddy. I understand how you feel dude. We feel the same. It’s chill. No hard feelings.”
