her real name is ethel roxanne balinger but the hATES ethel for obvious reasons. she just goes by roxy and tries to keep the fact that her real name is ethel a little bit hidden. not a whole lot of people know. (that’s not her actual secret but it’s something she never talks about ever)

her family didn’t rlly have a lot of money when she was a kid. her dad had a crap job on the line at a frito-lay factory and her mom stayed at home.
things were mostly chill minus a few money problems until she was 14, that was when her parents died in a bad car accident. (raining rllly bad, car swerved off the road)
she was placed in a foster home because none of her relatives wanted to take her and she really didn’t have many relatives in louisiana. she was only in her first home for two months because she was a problem child and they couldn’t handle her
basically she moved homes a bunch and a couple of times she was moved out of new orleans bc there were no homes at the time for her and some of the other children
in her third home when she was 15 she was abused by her foster mom and that’s why all the kids were removed from that house
by the time she was 17 she was back in new orleans and then she aged out of the system
roxy stayed in town bc it’s where her parents were buried and she wanted to be close to them
my garbage girl has a lot of unresolved issues
before auditioning for the show she was a dancer at a club and doing “shady things under the table” on the side for extra cash. she lived in a crappy apartment and used her tips to keep the lights on and buy smokes
like i said, lots of unresolved issues.
in highschool she cut class a lot, didn’t have an interest in being there.
she got her ged instead of a regular diploma because she, well, was never really in class
basically she was going to a small state college so she wouldn’t be on the streets or succin for $$$ for the rest of her life. lowkey i think she wants to help kids in the foster system but idk yet we’ll see when i play her out
now she’s on the show because she still has student debt and hopefully reality tv will bring in enough cash to pay it all off and still have some left over so she can dO something with her life
yeah p much she’s just a mess with family issues, a drug problem, and she v much thinks of herself as independent and not really a nice people person. not necessarily guarded but she doesn’t value relationships (often) because she’s dead set on the fact that nothing lasts forever aINT THAT FUn.

he’s selfless but almost in a way that’s detrimental to himself ((a side effect of his secret))
he wants to love everyone and everyone to love him bc deep inside he’s dying. but like deeeep down
you know that mean girls quote “i just want to bake a cake out of rainbows and smiles and everyone will eat it and be happy”? he’s the embodiment of that quote
ethan loves the space which is literally the opposite of his dad who’s a marine biologist
he just finished his masters in astrophysics and basically was halfway to getting a job at NASA when he was asked to join the show
he will literally talk to you about stars all day

so, first thing’s first: as is tradition with most of my characters, thorne is not her real name lmao and she’s definitely not telling anyone her real name largely because it’ll most likely be part of her secret !
moving on, thorne is from the louisiana bayou, so basically the swamps outside of new orleans. ( she has a cute little southern accent that’s pretty hard to miss tbh. ) aside from going into the city every now and again, usually for special occasions, she has literally never left the bayou so we’re in for lots of culture shock with her.
some parts of her backstory will tie into her secret so i want to avoid getting into that too much, but here are some basics: her father is the only parent she’s ever known. they lived in a cozy little shack out in the middle of nowhere in the swamp for thorne’s entire life. she spent most of her youth completely isolated from the rest of the world. there’s no internet in the bayou and even making a phone call via landlines was difficult. as a result, thorne has always been very close with her father and the few friends she’s collected over the years, most of which are neighbors that she’s known all her life. thorne didn’t even attend school as a neighbor homeschooled her along with homeschooling her own children.
thorne is currently employed as a psychic / fortune teller / card reader / palmist. girl does it all, working in a small shop on the edge of the bayou heading into new orleans. so yeah this is just a forewarning that she WILL try to read your palm ok sorry
after some recent Drama™ revolving around her secret, thorne for the first time felt a desperate desire to leave the bayou, at least for a little while and discovered rivalry island while on a trip into new orleans so she decided to audition and now here we are ! i had this idea that maybe she came with her best friend who encouraged her to join the show in the first place, so if you’d be interested in possibly filling that connection just lmk !
i think that’s all in regards to her backstory for now, so let’s talk about her personality !
as i mentioned earlier, thorne is a psychic and that’s something she absolutely believes about herself 100%. whether it’s due to possessing supernatural abilities or not, one thing that’s undeniable about thorne is that she is an extremely perceptive, sensitive and empathetic person. she’s very good at reading people and can often be sort of unsettling in the way she can just look at a person and know things about them that really shouldn’t be as obvious as she makes them seem. that being said though ofc she won’t know anything ~secret~ about your character without your permission !
that being said, thorne does still somehow manage to be a little socially awkward on occasion. being relatively isolated her whole life, she’s never really learned about the finer intricacies of socializing and hell, she can’t even really work a cell phone ! technology more complicated than a radio can be very confusing for her, but i think it’d be great if someone maybe took it upon themselves to integrate her into the 21st century lmao so lmk if you’d be interested in that !
also on the negative side of character traits, thorne can be very blunt and she basically has no off button like the girl is always on her weird shit and she’s scatterbrained af. any given moment thorne is missing at least 3 ( three ) things that are vital to her and that a person really should not have lost but she is unbothered ! stop her !

- As stated in the app I sent in she is from Myrtle Beach, SC in the USA. She lives in a small two bedroom house with her dad (her folks split when she was only ten). Her father is a drunk that sits around all day and yells at the television completely ignoring his daughter.
- Addie was an average C student back in high school, she had one friend and they weren’t even very close. After graduation she scraped up the money to go to community College for general studies and earned her associates degree.
- She has a famous Instagram blog for her shots of the beaches and funny tourists around the public beaches.
- If it was up to addie she would be living on the beach, sunbathing, and swimming every day.
- she decided to make a move to California, but slowly since her grandmother now older, needing some assistance and still wanting to live on her own. but she knew moving her father would be difficult. it’s still currently in transition, flying between cali and SC

hello there! i'm aj, 18 years old and i'm in the gmt timezone! i'm not good at talking about myself, so i'll move onto my new daughter- harley.
TW: DEATH; CAR ACCIDENT
so this is harley, as you can guess. she was born and raised in scotland, and so you can expect a pretty heavy accent from her. she's the middle of seven siblings, and so is pretty used to being in quite a rowdy house with a lot of different personalities.
harley's background really isn't that interesting??? her dad's a doctor and her mum's a teacher, which means that she does come from a sort of middle class background, but her childhood was relatively uneventful.
it's when we get to her teenage years that things sort of get a bit more dramatic.
SPOILERS FOR HER SECRET!!!
okay so when harley was seventeen and not long since passed her driving test, her older brother took her out to a party. she was never much of a party girl, but she still went and enjoyed herself, but the important thing to note is that she wasn't drinking- at least, not alcohol.
nate, harley's older brother, had been drinking a lot more than she had, and harley being kinda responsible decided that she wasn't going to let him drive home.
on their way home from the party, there was an accident. a car that was going way over the speed limit crashed into them at a junction, and harley got badly injured. but that wasn't the worst of it. nate was killed in the accident, and harley blames herself because she was driving the car, even though it wasn't her fault. that's her secret. she believes that she accidentally killed her brother.
after that, she spent a lot of time trying to piece herself together and truth be told, she's still not over it seven years later. she took a gap year and travelled the world, before she went to uni to study english, then took a post-grad in education. long story short, she's now a high school english teacher.

when it comes down to it, harley's just a genuinely nice person? she's the type of person who literally wants to be friends with everyone and just make everyone else happy.
she also tries to be like everyone's sister. maybe it comes from having six siblings, but she's gotten used to the whole sibling thing- people also call her quite "mumsy" too, though.
on the negative side of things, harley is very clingy. like, she's affectionate, but probably overly-affectionate.
additionally, she's incredibly naive. people are able to take advantage of her so easily and she wouldn't even notice? added to that she's so forgiving that she'd just let them do it over and over again, which can get annoying.
some places, especially online, claim that harley's personality is "fake" but she's genuinely just nice??? and has no idea how people would get the impression that she's anything else.
oh and she's pansexual, for anyone who may be wondering. she didn't go on the show looking for love exactly- she just went on for fun and because a friend dared her to apply- but she is a romantic and wouldn't turn it down either.
