i was on the fence about associating summer with sandrine (bc i hate summer). fall might be her favorite season, but it is too sad and gloomy to represent her accurately. winter is even worse, there is a certain anger, hopelessness and stillness to winter that just don’t fit. i’m left with spring, with flowers blossoming, with the renwed hope after a dead season. i found this sketcky website that shares this statement: “spring is the time when the world awakens from the death of winter. it is therefore a transition period, between the past of winter and the hope of summer, between memory and desire” while also quoting a poet to add “lilacs out of the dead land, mixing; memory and desire, stirring”. and yeah, i agree.

absolutely! sandrine will go above and beyond to help other people, whether they are closed friends or family or strangers. she very much does it as an instinct. BUT, she takes benefits from it. she does not believe in karma, yet she believes that by doing good actions, good things will happen to her. she earned a lot of validation (pride) through being called helpful, kind and reliable. even if she does not set her expectations towards other people very high, she still thinks that if she is being good to them, they will return the favor. she does not want to be hated or disliked, she wants to be perceived as the good, therefore, she must reflect that in her actions. the only sources of “trouble” her helpfulness brought her are related to the disappointment and sadness she encounters when she realizes that it’s not everyone who thinks and acts like her. it comes naturally to alessandra to give, to help, to support, but it’s unfortunately not innate to every human being and that alone is an inconvenience.
for the sake of adding an anecdote, something happened to me back in high school that would fit sandrine. i used to love correcting spelling mistakes and i found a friend’s draft and i started to correct it absentmindedly. it appeared to be the draft of her final writing exam (in québec, they’re called the ministry exams) which i didn’t know beforehand and i almost failed my entire class and got expelled due to accidentally cheating on the biggest exam of the school year because i wanted to help my friend with her grammar (as i corrected, i added explanations she could use in the future if she referred to this paper). due to being a good student, i didn’t face serious consequences and the charges of cheating were taken off my history and i’m pretty sure something like this would happen to sandrine as well.
