@willwolfie
tess bryantâ.
It hurt - that familiar sting that ached in her chest, whenever her intentions seemed to go unnoticed by others. She slipped her hand out from his, foolishly thinking there was something maybe there that they might have shared throughout their numerous interactions together. All Tess knew, was that the thought of possibly seeing him hurt, scared her more than she thought possible, and it confused her. Even at thirty years old, it was difficult to shift through her own thoughts and emotions, and weed out the ones she knew to be exaggerations. And now, with quitting therapy cold turkey, she really wasnât sure how to help herself, let alone somebody else - who was she fucking kidding.
Embarrassed, she instinctively eyed the bag of M&Mâs, before grabbing it. She crinkled the packaging beneath her slim fingers, as a distraction from the whole situation, âI-I didnât come here to argue. I was just really fucking worried okay, Wolfie.âÂ
Dramatic, wow â okay, she thought.
âMaybe people just care about you ââ she paused, finally working up enough courage to make eye contact with him, âa lot. People just care about you a lot,â she repeated, but in a hushed tone. She shifted her eyes to look past him, focusing on the a small spot of discoloring on the wall, and sort of regretting her need to see him. She tossed the bag of M&Mâs bad towards him, âAnd it is my job. Itâs my job to make sure my friends are okay.â It was a part of her that she took pride in, something she valued in the highest regard. Friends were her everything, and being there for someone helped her not be so caught up in her own self loathing. âBut, if you donât want me here, I can just go.â
The blonde felt bad; he knew that this time was not the end-all of why the situation here had suddenly turned sour, guessed that by the way, he reacted so differently to what Tess had seen him be like during more severe incidents on-call (though those had never found him the victim) that she must know, too. Usually, deeds of the past didnât haunt Wolfie like this, but usually, he didnât traumatize people out of their profession. He reveled in the silence that was left between them, watching Tessâs hands fiddle as the only moving thing around as the pause grew to answer her too long to sound even remotely as sincere as she had telling him all these things. âIâm not gonna argue, then,â, he answered finally, looking up to eyes that now wouldnât meet his after missing the right moment to have seen the care, the hurt, the everything in them. âNo arguing, no discussion on stuff or anythinâ,â Wolfie determined and moved, crinkling the fresh sheets of the hospital bed and losing a few candy packets in the depth of them, having apparently decided that an hour in the hospital was more than enough to test his patience. âWe can just get outta âere, sign my release papers, and be done with whatever today was. Not talk about it tomorrow when Iâll have to let you snail-drive the ambulance, cause this isnât a big enough deal for me to miss work, aâright?â He didnât know where the sudden burst of words had come from but was glad enough that his soft nudge towards her, leaning over to do so before moving away again to sit on the edge of his bed much like Tess did, hadnât gone in awkward silence.Â

georgie wallaceâ.
If there was one thing Georgie learned from her friendship with Wolfie was that the man was completely unpredictable in any of his requests. What started as the most awkward of interactions in her life â and that is saying something, taking in consideration who Georgie is â turned out to be one of the most interesting as the time went on. So when he texted her randomly late at night? She wasnât all that surprised anymore. She could use the company, and she was starving as well.
âOh my God, did you buy the whole place? Were you planning on feeding my whole neighborhood?â As soon as Georgie opened the door the only thing she could take notice were the bags on his hands and how many they were, quickly going to take one of them to help him out , stepping to the side to make room for him to walk in. âWhat did you expect? I donât think many people are out to buy food at this time of the night,â she chuckled, slightly shaking her head at the whole thing. âLiving room, put it all on the center table and Iâll go get us something to drink,â with being said, she placed the bag down and headed to the kitchen. âI have soda, beer, tea, waterâŠjuiceâŠ.wine? What are you the mood for?â
âDonno, got any hot neighbors that I should know of?â, he threw back jokingly, leaning back as though to look out of one of the windows heâd just passed before following her request in walking on into the living room. He settled there on the ground instead of the couch, almost physically unable to feel any sort of discomfort or awkwardness in the less familiar place despite what others (normal -- some would say) people would have chosen to do or say. Maybe it was part of Wolfieâs charm to never do things by halves, feeling out of place had no space in his kinda world -- if someone was his friend, however long that may have been, they were his friend no questions asked and no semi-stage of acquaintance interjected. âWhatever fizzy drink without alc you have âround is good. Didnât plan on a sleepover, or collecting fifty tickets in wrong parking while Iâd walk home,â he responded, half-heartedly as one of the bags was already being torn into by him, on the search for the spring rolls. âWhat were you doing before this, anyway? âm not interrupting very important work-flow, huh?â

âI have to say, thatâs a terrible thing to have in common. We couldâve had a favorite color in common, but no. We have a freaking criminal record in common,â she chuckled, shaking her head in both embarrassment and disapproval. âYouâre not looking at them. You have to tell me whatâs on your record now, though. Come on, there shouldnât be any secrets here, we have to trust each other in order for this partnership to work.â It was probably nonsensical for her to ask for his secrets when sheâd just denied him hers, but it was worth a shot regardless. She stopped a few steps after he did, following him closer to the edge of the water. She kicked off her shoes, dipping her toes in the water. âI donât want to hear about your sexual adventures with your older neighbor or whoever else you might be referring to. So gross.â Remi shrugged nonchalantly, actually not that bothered by her family knowing where she actually met Wolfie. They probably wouldnât be surprised. âNah, Iâm just used to being the family disappointment. The truth wonât surprise them.â
âHey, I didnât lie when I said I donât have a record, especially not here. NCIC got nothing on William Wolf. Not one this one, anyway,â he countered, squinting at her, blue eyes seemingly shining brightly in the beam of daylight that had suddenly decided to break through the cloud ceiling. âAnd my favorite colorâs navy blue, by the way,â Wolfie added as he watched Remi, tentative smile on his lips for both, childhood memories and herself, doing something quite unexpected but free (not that this wasnât the only MO he knew to be hers). But instead of joining her, he dug his heels into the damp sand just out of reach of the tide. Not enough time to do all the stupid shit heâd like to. â 'least you can be honest. No fake expectations to uphold. âm not that good of an actor, anyway, so I donno how long Iâd be a poster boy for. Should they ever meet me, I wonât have to overtone being a gullible idiot whoâll inevitably actually land himself in the NCIC âcause of you. Not that Iâd prefer a measly parking ticket to be the deed that checks me into the database.â
Location: Georgieâs Place. Time: Late Evening. Status: Open to @georgiewallaceâ
Wolfie hoped heâd better not get a ticket parking his car where he did. Then again, he would happily start an argument on how Allison Hill and the general vicinity of Georgieâs place had absolutely no space to park a goddamn Bronco. Ultimately, his concern that their food would get cold before heâd find a clearly legal spot outweighed and whoeverâs home entrance was now blocked was just in bad luck. Not his problem. It was hard enough to balance three plastic bags worth of food in each of his hands and get up the steps to the San Fran-style home without spillage, so that should count towards something given that it was one of his days off of being a local goodie-good.Â
âWas too lazy to ask ân wait to know whatâya wanted so this is, like, all of it,â he greeted his newer addition to what Wolfie called locally grown friends and gestured -- vaguely as they allowed it -- for her to take one of the bags off of him. âHonestly, the place looked like a ghost town, so either the people in this town eat a lot healthier than I thought or Iâm the only idiot buying local. Either way, hope youâre hungry.â A rough chuckle slipped through his lips, as he made his way into her place. He was glad for this, not her place per se, they may as wellâve stayed at his place across town but the company, Georgie herself, and a way out of spending a second day in a row holed up in his bed alone, sleeping off a case of two 24h shifts too close together. âKitchen? Living room?â

tess bryantâ.
âIâve been here,â she confessed, inching herself inside after pushing the curtain aside.Â
Her tone was gentle, but clearly laced with worry for him, âI waited until I got the okay to come in.â With a quick reach around, she shut the curtain to give him some privacy from the bustling that was happening in the halls. After slipping her hands inside her blazer pockets then back out once more, she revealed an array of candies, that she had picked up from one of the very hard to find vending machines. Her rose colored lips shifted up into a small smile, âI-I didnât know which one was your favorite, so I got four.â With much hesitation, she finally forced herself to take a seat opposite him. With her back hitting the foot of the hospital bed, she laid the candies in between them, as a sort of barrier. âNo offense, but Iâd rather not kiss your bloody hand.â She let a tender laugh escape, before continuing, âAnd Iâm not here on duty at all, I-â. With a short moment of silence, she gathered her thoughts, afraid that if she let one thing slip out heâd be on to her.Â
âYou scared me, you know?â Without a moment to think about what she was doing, her hand gently reached out towards his bandaged one, and she did her best not to injure him any further by wrapping her fingers around it. âThat was really fucking scary, Wolf."Â
It was with wide eyes that Tess watched the altercation unfold in front of her just an hour earlier. She had just walked in to see the vase fly at him and the blood â there was so much of it â she panicked, but failed to move, she just stood there afraid - she didnât do a fucking thing about it. She just surveyed everyone jumping into care for him, while her partner obtained the one that launched the fucking thing. âIâm sorry I didnât help, I shouldâve helped.â She looked at him, almost afraid by how she felt when she did. Fuck, what was this? She felt a pit in her stomach, with accompanying chills that ran up and down her spine. Why did she care so much about the possibility of having almost lost him?Â
Oh, that tone. That tone of worry intermingling with pity Wolfie knew too well and grown resentful over the years, despite the very best intentions that would elicit it in other people. It became white noise to him, something that he only snapped out of as the candy from Tessâ pockets pooled in his lap and the foot of his bed was moved by the weight of her body on it, catching the least of what had been said. âThanks,â he mumbled, barely audible but in no way making an effort to reach out to the gifted chocolate. Itâd be rude to tell her that heâd vomit out her fairing, would he actually touch it now.Â
âWe on a surname basis now?â Wolfieâs comment was haphazard, given the exact opposite of actions as he let her take his abused hand; it didnât hurt, anyway. Maybe a lifetime of injuries like these had left a certain tolerance for pain behind and it offered itself up as a better point than to talk about what scary really felt like. Today had not been it. âItâs just... life, yâknow,â he sighed with the weight of undeserving guilt pressing down onto his chest once again. For a momentâs worth, as he looked up at Tessâ face for the first time, he saw the face of a different woman -- with long dark hair, pretty green eyes and a similarly short name that had never sat there by his bedside but gone with the blink of an eye. âIt ainât really your job though, is it? Itâs mine and I wonât stand for other people beating themselves up again âcause my health is a fuck up,â he argued, pushing whatever feelings had just bubbled up from deep within back down and did what he hated most -- faked his attempt at a smile. The attempt to lightly squeezing her hand in his did, in fact, hurt enough to hitch his breath but did nothing to further hinder his attempt at making her feel better. It was all Wolfie ever wanted. Making people feel better. âAnd for the record, I wouldâve been fine, Belinda Carlisle. I donât really wanna talk âbout it but I IVâd yesterday, everyone else was just beinâ dramatic, is all.â
