Completed in 2018 in Hamilton, New Zealand. Images by Simon Wilson. Not only is this project a success in terms of connecting our cityscape back to the River, it represents a fresh way of thinking about Urban Design...
Another small but highly effective development of an Urban Riverfront in New Zealand.
So many have been proposed in Chennai and we are yet to see any one of them take off. Last week I heard the section at the start of the OMR where you have the MRTS and a canal is now going to be developed as a landscaped zone for the benefit of walkers and IT professionals who work around here. This was supposed to include an STP to clean the water in the canal and ofcourse clear the stench.
The project is now approved for Rs. 20 Crore and there will be no STP. As usual we have compromised on key infrastrcuture even before the project has begun.
When you are spending Rs. 20 crore which is around US $3 million then why dont you include the STP? This is why we are still where we are!
