Rivka-Kopelman: Ravishing Glitch Gifs
Felicie, a 28 year old from Newfoundland is the ardent, impassioned creator of the feverish river of glitch gifs at Rivka-Kopelman. To make money she is a freelancer in ‘various digital media practices’ but told me her life changed when she found a VHS camcorder in an E-waste warehouse and brought it to life, after which she was so excited she worked for 30 hours straight making gifs. To her “broken files and obsolete tech are interesting to me,....there's so much crazy potential in a broken TV ya know?” What I do know is that she creates beautifully exotic supersaturated gifs that have a haunting quality.

big thanks to @hexmoire for coming to my rescue with this conversion script. I export everything as quicktime h.264 and have been manually compressing every gif with Ulead one by one (more than 5000 of them; I post alot) to limbo slide under tumblr's 2MB gif limit. This is very tedious and takes almost as long as the actual art part, during which I'm haunted by the knowledge that the more stuff I make, the more time I will have to spend in Ulead. There are lots of batch converters out there [all useless to me] but this custom-tailored .bat automatically compresses my MOVs to tumblr-friendly <2mb GIFs.
This means the time I can spend on actually creating stuff has almost doubled, and I don't have to worry about having to Ulead everything anymore. So - hooray for hexmoire, this is a giant power-up <3 <3 <3
