❝ catch me if you can — ♡

          pacing in the kitchen isn’t new to her, neither is being walked in whilst doing it but what is different this time is that she has half a chocopie in her mouth and her cheeks turn a blazing red as she nearly chokes trying to greet audrey when she walks in. serves her right for being scared that it was their manager. contraband snacks are her guilty pleasure this late at night, or early in the morning depending on how one views it. quick to grab her water bottle, she takes a few sips before turning back to audrey with a bashful grin. “ hi. ” her laugh is too loud for the hour and yet she can’t help it, glancing behind audrey with caution. “ do you want one? i have another one but maybe i shouldn’t risk it if i can’t even finish one properly. ” 

          the bright red packaging is instantly recognizable and she waves it about childishly with a glance to the lyric notes she’d placed on the counter during her earlier struggle. “ chase me, catch me if you can ~ do you think our manager would laugh if i tried that the next time i’m caught? ” because she’s weary for a reason, it’s not the first time she’d had a chocopie in the dorm when she isn’t supposed to.

          if the past few days have taught her anything, it’s that, yes, she should’ve brought one of the blankets from their living room with them when they left this morning. it’s cold as it is when they leave in the first place but when sleep is an luxury they can’t get enough of, it’d be much better to take a nap with one than without. the potential bulkiness and inconvenience of bringing a blanket around is one of the only things stopping her and she had to dig deep into the boxes she keeps at her sister’s place to find her solution: a thick cardigan almost as long as her, one that could nearly sweep the floor if she knelt down just a little. 

          plopping down next to audrey in the waiting room, she brings it with her, already nestling her head against audrey’s shoulder and pulling the cardigan over them. “ i promise to share if you let me rest here. ” not that she genuinely thinks audrey would say no but it’s nice to offer, a joke really because ariel would likely cling if she was told no anyway unless the other was upset.
