Your muse is approached by a lovely Korean student named Park Junse. Wait! He isn’t a student anymore. The young boy who once asked people for a freestyle rap has now graduated from college and became a vlogger and streamer—to your luck! He looks just as bright but his camera has evolved to better quality. What do you have to do this time?
Well, whether you’re up-to-date with the trends or not, TikTok trendsetter p_jse is asking for your help in developing the next new hit. The now-man will play you a song and you’ll have to create a dance challenge for Junse to upload to his TikTok account. That’s right. Freestyle a hit, right here, on the spot.
Write a 200+ words solo of your character creating a new dance challenge and please tag your posts with #rkhitmaker. Then, feel free to claim your +3 DANCE POINTS. Make sure to link your post on your skill tracker! Since this is an open event, there is no deadline.
whether this guy, junse, knows who ten is or not he’s come to the right guy. create a viral tiktok dance on the spot? easy, ten thinks. he’s got a tiktok, but he doesn’t post on it, he’s been meaning to, but his youtube comes first, and the community of teenagers on tiktok sort of scares him. but, if he’s doing it for someone else, then why the hell not, right?
but, ten knows he’s a pro at freestyling, so the request only makes him grin and stretch his arms out a little. “you ready?” he asks the guy with the camera, stretching his neck from left to right. he laughs, wondering what song the guy will have him freestyling to. hopefully it’s hip hop or pop, and not something contemporary since he’s more confident that he can create a catch, easy to follow but visually pleasing freestyle dance for hip hop.
the music starts and he vaguely recognises it. he smiles, knowing, pretty confidently, where the beats fall and the drop and shift. he starts to move to the music just a little, before he twists his hips, tapping his heels against the ground as his legs cross over his body. his hands raised up, palms facing the camera, he then snaps them in a criss cross over his chest and as one hand lifts up and out he closes a fist and snaps his head the opposite way, dropping into a half squat with his legs spread wide. his hands drop to the top of his thighs, gripping his sweats as he lens for side to side and lifts his feet to tap his heels on the ground each time he leans away from one foot. then he pops back into a standing position, and then with a hit to the side of his head on a beat he staggers out of frame with a cheeky grin.
“there. that good?” he asks the dude, junse, smiling at him. he was pretty pleased with what he’d done, and is sort of looking forward to see how it would do on this guys tiktok. “what’s ur tiktok username, so i can see it when you post?” he asks, then opens the app to go and find his account and follow him. he doesn’t really know what to expect from it, but he hopes people like it, since he doesn’t think he’s done too badly with the freestyle.
“i hope it gets you lots of followers, bro. can i see it?” he says with a light laugh, tucking his hands into his pants pocket and peering round at the camera screen. he watches the video back and hums with a single nod. “i hope you... tiktokers like it.”
One thing Youngjae hadn’t expected whilst out on a walk with Coco was to be stopped in the middle of everything by some guy seemingly around his own age who seemed very intent on bugging everyone around him until he finally got a reaction out of someone. Youngjae just happened to be that someone thanks to walking around with music in his earbuds, not noticing before it was too late that he was being roped into something he’d rather not join.
But once he had taken out his earbud and given the guy, Park Junse, his time of the day, there was no going back it seemed.
‘Oh come on, it won’t take long!’ he insisted. ‘I’m sure you can think of something good,’ he insisted. ‘People with glasses are usually smart,’ he insisted. The last was the most bullshit argument he had ever heard, but he felt as though it was going to be an even bigger pain in the ass to ignore the guy than comply with him, and thus Youngjae found himself handing over his dog to the stranger while he prepared the music and took out his phone camera to film with.
Were all people this fucking weird nowadays? Or were tiktokers just a special breed of their own? He’d heard of it before but never paid it much attention so he couldn’t tell. Either way the music began without Youngjae having much time to regret and change his mind, and for a moment he simply stood there wondering what the fuck he was supposed to be doing. Choreograph something from scratch right there and then at the spur of the moment? Yeah no way that was going to happen. Instead he decided to rely on the few meme dances he knew.
With surprising energy he jumped straight into one after the other, first swinging his arms alongside his leg, then doing that infamous dance from Fortnight or some shit like that. Despite himself and how cringe it was, he found himself shooting a heard at the camera before ending off with a floss.
Well. That was... embarrassing. Clearing his throat, Youngjae held out his hand to get his dog leash back, plugged in his earbud again and turned around to make a tactical retreat as quickly as possible.

In hindsight, maybe it would have been better to go straight home from work that day, rather than hanging around Dongdaemun once his shift was over. But when your choice of evening activities is either going back to your (small as hell) apartment to be subjected to your roommate’s PDA with whatever girl he’d brought home this weekend or an evening window shopping, Ren knows what scenario he infinitely prefers.
Which is how he finds himself in this particular situation.
He’d been looking in the window of a rival clothes store and had been about to go in (for purely investigative purposes of course) when he’d been tapped on the shoulder by a kid who didn’t look all that long out of high school. And then he’d commented on Ren’s looks, which of course lead to him having the model right in the palm of his hand. Until Park Junse made his proposition, that is?
“Wha-- H-hang on a second, I don’t dance, you can’t expect me to-!”
However his protest were overruled by a promise of ‘it’s just a short clip, less than twenty seconds’ and incessant pleading that Ren couldn’t help but crumble to. Damn this kid and his puppy dog eyes, how the heck he pull it off so well?!
Standing a few feet in front of Junse, Ren blinks in surprise as the music comes on, a fast paced song that reminds him of DDR. After a second pause he throws himself into the rhythm; leaping around, head banging like he’s in a concert and waving his limbs around erratically along with a few air punches. Despite himself, Ren gets far more into it than he’d intended and he’s left a bit befuddled when the music suddenly cuts off.
“Eh~? Done already? But I was just getting start...”
Ren trails off has he realizes his antics have garnered them a small but vocal crowd. Combined with the slightly frozen smile on Junse’s face, Ren realizes that he may have overdone just a little bit.
(Maybe a lot.)
Flushing red to the roots of his hair, all Ren can do is choke out an acknowledgement to Junese’s slightly shell-shocked thanks before her makes a run for it towards the subway.
With his luck, this’ll be all over the internet by his next shift.
Choi Beomgyu was a disappointment to his generation in that he had little to no knowledge about social media and media trends. He hardly ever used his Instagram and he only posted on YouTube when he had a cover he wanted to share. Quite a number of his friends were big on social media but Beomgyu had no idea what that even meant. Sure, he’s appeared in videos for them before a number of times but he never felt the need to do what they did and it seemed like too much work and there were other things he could be doing. He just wasn’t that interested in social media.
Still, Beomgyu was not one to turn down an opportunity to dance and so when he had been stopped by a familiar face, Beomgyu was more than happy to oblige. It hadn’t taken him long to realise that the guy was the same person that had stopped him before and asked him to rap. It was good to see he had done well for himself and that he had graduated.
He had been asked to create a tiktok dance on the spot and while Beomgyu still wasn’t entirely sure what toktok was, he was happy to dance for the older male. He nodded, grinned and listened to what Junse had to say. ❝ Ok so I just need to improv a random dance for like 30ish seconds? It can be anything? ❞ Junse nodded and Beomgyu chuckled. Oh he could have some fun with this.
While he was first tempted to create a ridiculously hard and crazy dance, he instead settled for something in the middle. It wasn’t too hard or too easy and it allowed him to show off his moves. When he was given the signal, Beomgyu began dancing. It was a fun and upbeat dance, much like he was, and he hoped it would be fun for people to do. He grinned brightly as he moved and bounced around.
Junse recorded it a few more times to make sure he had a good shot and thanked Beomgyu. The high schooler returned the thanks and continued about his day. He’d have to ask Soobin how to use tiktok so he could see it.
“you want me to ... what? make a tiktok ... for you? shouldn’t you do it yourself?” chaewon considered his offer, eventually deciding to accept, albeit warily. “fine, but only if you tag my instagram, i don’t have a tiktok.” maybe she should consider setting up an account of her own.
eh, no. keeping up with her youtube channel and instagram was enough of a pain already. she’d rather keep uploading longer, more serious covers on her youtube channel, both for singing and dancing. her serious approach and attitude was chronically detrimental. it meant she got a lot done, but it also meant the process was usually a lot longer.
she didn’t have that kind of time now though. this park junse guy seemed like the inpatient type. chaewon listened to the audio through a couple of times until an idea popped into her head. it was one of those songs that started off all cute but finished off cool and sexy.
“okay, i’m ready.”
junse stepped back to give her enough space to work her magic. one, two, three and go! she started off dancing cute, shuffling left to right in time with the music, touching toes to toes and heel to heel as she held her hands up chest high in fists, moving them in clockwise circles. then, the change happened, and with one step, chaewon turned her body to the side and dropped down into a low squat, coming back up slowly, returning to full height with a snap of her head, hair flipping over her shoulder.
junse lowered the phone, and chaewon skipped over to watch it back. good enough.
satisfied with herself, she crossed her arms over her chest as she haughtily reminded him, “don’t forget to include my handle.”
mina didn’t really have any business with going out. unless she had something important to do outside of the comfort of her home, she usually liked keeping to herself inside her house. recently, she’s been doing that with her switch since animal crossing had gotten out. but, her mom told her that she needed to run errands for her at the supermarket. so not wanting to go against her and possibly leave her island deserted for a week or more, she complies to her mother’s wishes and it explains why she’s out and about.
she doesn’t really understand the situation. she doesn’t even know who this guy is until he introduces himself as park junse. she’s heard the name around, considering her friends have talked about him. she personally didn’t get the hype with him, so she isn’t as excited that he approaches her compared to her actual faves. so when he asks her to do something for him, she couldn’t help but look at him as if he was a maniac.
“you want me to what?!”
“make a dance trend for me!” he says with a grin. “you can dance, right? anyone can!”
she doesn’t want to admit that she could. in any situation, maybe she’d ask for the shameless plug. but not now. not with someone who’s popular on tiktok… that’s not soobin! “i-i don’t know!”
“please!” he pleads. “if you have a channel or an instagram, i can plug it for you! you’ll get a bunch of attention for it, i bet! i promise!”
she lets out a long sigh before admitting defeat. as much as she’d rather say no, she wouldn’t deny that the high number of viewers and followers sounds promising. so what if she is a little bit shallow? no one can blame a girl for liking a lot of attention and support. “fine,” she replies. “what’s the song?”
“supalonely by benee!” he replies. “have you heard the song? super catchy, in my opinion.”
“uh… maybe?” she replies, unsure. “how does it go? what part of the song do you want me to do?”
beaming at her response, he plays the portion of the song that he wanted her to dance to and after listening to it (and asking for him to play it again and again as she mentally choreographs it), she nods her head.
“you can play the song and use the timer,” she responds. she’s only aware of how the app works because she’s had to record tiktoks with soobin before. she had an account, but she barely posted on there. it was mainly existing just so she can save funny english tiktoks onto her gallery.
surprisingly, the song goes by fast, but she manages to record the video and dance, watching herself on his phone’s selfie mode as if it were a tiny mirror in front of her. when asked to look at the video, she looks over his shoulder to see it and she couldn’t help but cringe.
she didn’t look like she was dancing good enough.
“can we go again?” she asks. “i looked a little sloppy. i want to make sure if this becomes a trend, i look good.”
“but i think it’s fine-”
“let me rerecord it,” she orders, getting the much older boy nod his head and get back on his spot before hitting the timer on his phone… yet again.
hongdae was always busy this time of day. school had finished for the day and the sun was starting to set, and that was when the buskers started to hit the streets. it was a usual sigh for the fifteen year old as he walked back to his mom’s cafe from school. she had practically begged him to stop by to help out after school and he did like to think he was a good son who simply did as he was told, so he wasn’t going to come up with any sort of lie to get out and it. and, besides, he hadn’t been able to catch up with her in awhile because she was always so busy.
the schoolkid was busy thinking about other things that he almost walked right into the guy holding the camera. junhyuk went to apologize and step around him, but paused when it appeared this guy had approached him for a reason. the man behind the camera was apparently a vlogger, or something, park junse. the funniest thing though was that he wanted junhyuk to come up with the next viral dance to upload onto tiktok.
“wait, seriously?” he laughed somewhat, shifting the strap of his school bag over his shoulder, “i’m not that great of a dancer, you know.” though, he supposed he was capable of following along with viral dance moves so how hard could it be to actually come up with one himself?
as it turned out - very hard.
he was lost for ideas the moment the camera started filming, quite unsure as to what his arms and legs were even doing. the music just took control and june found himself more or less helplessly following along with whatever happened to pop into his head at the time. he wouldn’t really say this was going to be a next hit, though. it was actually pretty embarrassing and he could feel the heat rising under his collar. and even as he walked away when he was done he couldn’t help but anxiously rub at his ears.
maybe it was better if he just stuck to copying things instead of trying to start any new trends anytime soon.
