closing time is the worst shift to work because it means having to say goodbye to all the pups and dogs when their owners pick them up. (there’s also the fact of clean-up, but she tries not to let that ruin the moment.) there’s one dog that she’s grown particularly fond of, a black dog named pupper, who she’s grown to love so much that it physically pains her to see him go, especially because she’s watching him leave with one of the most stoic people she’s ever met.
most people who leave their dogs at the daycare are as sociable as their dogs are, polite, talkative, chatty, but puppers’ owner is different, and it’s because of the liveliness of all the other owners that he sticks out like a sore thumb. it makes her wonder if puppers gets any love and affection at all back home, and she’d ask if she weren’t at work.
so as jonghyun approaches, she gives puppers one last affectionate kiss on the top of its head and shoos the pug toward its owner. that is, if it would get moving. instead, it stays rooted orbiting around her, running circles around her feet and yapping happily. odd. “okay, puppers,” she says in an attempt to get its attention. “it’s time to go home~ go on now.”
instead, it jumps up on her legs, whining to be picked up. yikes. this might be a problem.
