Chunnie~! Happy Anniversary to us! I can’t believe that one year ago, Hyunjin and Moonbok started their Rookies Adventure~ They might not have started it together, initally, but if one good thing came from the MGAs, it was meeting you and Hyunjin~
I’m so happy to know such a kind and caring soul like you and Moonbok is eternally grateful and glad to have Hyunjin as his friend. I know that one day they’ll take the stage together somehow! It’s just a matter of waiting for the moment when everything aligns~
Can you believe it’s been 6 months since this dork joined the world of Rookies? (I was going to say ‘made his debut, but--) And what crazy six months it’s been. From having his dreams crushed in the MGAs (Sorry Bokkie) to branching out and writing his own material instead of simply covering others’ music, he’s grown up a lot in someways. And in someways, he’s still the idealistic kid he was this time 6 months ago, still believes that he can get to the top with by his own merit.
To surmise a quick run through of major character development since Moonbok joined and the events over the summer-
(under the cut because of mentions of bullying, toxic families and assault)
Was simply coasting through his degree in Music Theory and Composition, has began to take it more seriously since the start of the second semester. While he did enjoy it prior to his joining, he tended not to take it as seriously as anyone wished he would, regularly procrastinating to the point that he was handing up assignments within 30 minutes of the deadline. After the MGAs though, he’s using it more proactively to further his skills as a musician.
Still procrastinates, old habits die hard. But at least he isn’t pulling all-nighters anymore and his work is of a better quality.
[tw bullying] While he was initially teased by classmates for wanting to be an idol, it was generally in good fun. But things turned to straight up bullying during the MGAs and particularly after Moonbok’s elimination. The two main ringleaders are Park Jiwon and Lee Seulgi (NPCs), who do everything they can to make the older boy’s life a misery. While things have eased off as of late, they’re about to ratchet back up in the near future, with consequences for not only Moonbok, but his friends and family too.
[tw toxic families, assault] Moonbok’s relationship with his uncle was never the best, even as a child; but the events of Chuseok has lead to animosity on both sides. Moonbok is still utterly humiliated by how his uncle treated him in front of the entire family and genuinely believes that had his father not intervened, Minseok would have does worse that simply handle him as roughly as he did. Meanwhile, his uncle genuinely believes that Moonbok’s musical endeavours are nothing more than an attempt to tarnish the (county-known) name of their family. Their relationship will get even worse before the end of the year, when Minseok finds out about Moonbok’s underground activities.
(I swear, there’s good development too)
Has finally managed to get over the trauma of what happened to him during the MGAs, with help from his Team Dream teammates. While he still disagrees with what Hyun Bin and (especially) Tiger JK said to him, he has taken their advice on board and is focusing his skills on rapping and singing rather than trying to be an all-rounder.
Moonbok’s thrown himself into getting his name out there by collaborating with other people; either by composing and writing songs for them (i.e. Jamie and Youngjae) or by writing his own private material and performing with others himself. (Such as his upcoming collab with Minhee)
Has returned to regular dance lessons and while there’s still a lot of room for improvement, with Changmin and Mijoo’s help and companionship, he’s at least fully enjoying himself.
Will be going to Singapore with his parents and sister during the first week of December. (Coinciding with my trip to Japan, for obvious reasons); it’ll be the first vacation they’ve had as a family since his discharge from the military in late 2016. His grandmother will be visiting relations in Chuncheon during that time.
While Sphere is still his number one choice when it comes to signing for a company, KT has moved up to second place while TRC has crashed from second to last place. (He’s spiteful--) That said, he’d probably still go to a TRC casting call. He’s not petty enough to put his dream at risk. Just don’t expect him to be as enthusiastic as if he was to audition for Sphere or KT.
It hasn’t been threaded yet, but by this time, Moonbok has joined an underground HipHop crew. He hasn’t told his parents about this, figuring it might be a push too far. Yet, he’s enjoying the companionship (and safety) being in such a group gives him.
With Shino’s blessing, as they’re the one who put the idea in my head, I’ll be writing a series of solos delving into his background and life before Rookies. Including why his parents were so against him trying to become an idol (hint, it actually had nothing to do with him becoming a doctor), his heritage and how being in the military while the rest of his schoolmates went straight to university.
I’ll finish this up by simply saying thanks for welcoming Moonbok and helping him grow the way he has! I’d say here’s to the next 6 months but I’m hoping both of us will be here for a lot longer than that!
So given that I, a fool, decided to start the stamina achievement four weeks before I go to Japan, I’m in dire need of threads that I can queue up while I’m away.

Oof. I’ve had this as a draft for the last 24hrs trying to put my feelings into coherent words, but--
Anyways this isn’t proofread or anything, I don’t even intend to LOOK at this post again until I delete it.
Last night my uncle passed away from kidney failure. It’s honestly just been-- I can rationally accept he’s gone but I still think that this is just a dream and that once I wake up he’ll be fine and will snark at me when I go to visit. I mean, he was fine last Friday. He was driving and everything.
I don’t know if this is the denial stage of grief or if I’ve just disassociated so much after the first bout of crying when I heard, that my emotions have just shut down. In any case his funeral is on Monday, so my activity will be spotty, the dash might get a torrent of replies/solos as I try to keep distracted ot just complete radio silence. Apologies in advance for boht.
Moving onto the second point; on the 20th I’ll (hopefully?) be undergoing minor heart surgery for the problem that landed me in hospital in Feburuary. While it is a minor pacemaker insteration surgery, it means I’ll be in hospital for at least one night, I’ll be in a sling to keep the wires steady while they bed in, as it’s called. So replies will be slow until I figure out what my range of movement will be once the sling and bandages are off.
I’m hoping to at least get two more solos done for Moonbok because I’m really excited for the entire idea of the MGAs and I want him to at least get the character growth it’ll give him, even if he doesn’t make it past the audtions. (Though I’m sure as hell doing to do my best to get him as far as possible!) Meanwhile, Dowoon’s story will be taking on hell of a turn once I’m able to type it all out. How it’ll effect past threads are still something I need to figure out though.
Anyways, to finish this stream on conciousness, I want to thank the wonderful mods for being so understanding and kind after I sent them a message in my pretty distressed state last night and for giving both Dowoon and Moonbok long enough haituses to sort eventhing out IRL and IC. Ad apologies to the dash for my sporadic activity on both of my muses. (and for this rant tbh) Hopefulyl when SOME of this nightmare ends (the fixable part) I’ll be abe to dedicate a lot more time to y’all~
