I should be doing art but I actually feel really crappy today. Woke up with a headache and a bad flare. Trying to motivate myself to actually do work. @_@

I am so tired of people in my life calling me "boring."

I get it from friends, co-workers, students, and a big chunk of my family. I've been getting it since I was barely a teenager, so 13-14 years now of "she's sweet but just so boring," or "a quiet and really boring girl," etc.

Yeah, I *am* pretty plain as far as women go in 2014. I wear jeans and a t-shirt or a pretty blouse most days, and don't go with flashy jewelry, or any make-up (the most I ever wear is powder to dull the red across my cheeks/nose), don't dye my hair or get a striking haircut (RIP pixie cut). I don't have any problems with these things as they are. I *am* pretty damned quiet and not talkative in general, and not particularly easy to get to know.

Still - who are they to call me boring? I would get this from some of the most insanely normal people I knew, especially when I was younger; they couldn't have fit the in-group at our small rural school any more if they tried. Now I get it from the normal folks and the hipstery-cool folks. It's always been a big sore spot of mine, since it's a really cutting thing to say to someone whose head is on fucking fire 100% of the time because hello anxiety that onset when I was two.

This all dovetails into another issue: My Permanent Halo. Apparently offline I radiate a purity so intense that even *facts* can't fucking break it? Even good friends say that I seem so good and law-abiding (knowing well of the times when I was not and am still not). Yeah, I do in general err toward that ~side of life~ personally, but uh, because I don't look like a punk extra from some 80s schlock film I must be a saint? I can't be interesting, or intense, or even have a ~checkered past~ like the "bad people" out there? (And the alternative which I have also heard though not in some years: no one would believe it because I'm such a frump, and am unfuckable.)

It's just not any fun still going through life ping-ponging between BORING and WEIRD. It's almost a fucking mystery how in the world those are the two options I end up ricocheting from, but personally, I do get it (I'm not the good kind of weird, which is Cool Enough to be interesting to others, because by god it's not nor has it ever been a fucking performance I've put on for others' sake.)

Wish things would get easier with age, but it seems to make everything even more complicated, really.

I feel like it says a lot (about both me and the housing market) that I can't even begin to afford a house in the neighborhood I grew up in. The place I'd really like to live LOL I will never, ever be able to afford it. I hate money <3
