My comic assignment for uni and the comprehensive roughs! I hate this thing! Never wanna look at it again! :D
We had to make something basic on a sound effect, and I ended up using Murmur for mine haha

So, that is it, the end of semester 1. I am glad I made it. It is easier to say something like that when things are all settled down. But I still remember how many sleepless night l have been through and how much coffee I drank to stay sober. I have to admit that studying aboard is not as easy as I thought before. For most of the time, I was like completely have no idea of everything going around me. I could not understand the professor’s joke. When whole class laughed, I was just sitting there like a robot—no human reactions and emotions but with only endless awkwardness left. It is true that my English is terribly bad and l have to keep pushing myself practicing it. But I really think I made some progress through day-to-day practice. I do enjoy working with our extremely talented classmates and I learned a lot from them. They are so full of ideas and, in the meantime, they are willing to share their brilliant ideas. I am so lucky to have the chance to work with them, absorbing every single ideal that could be helpful for my future study. From them, I not only learned about skills or knowledge but also their ways of creating things and how they communicate their ideas in different ways. The most important thing, I think, for this course is not about leaning the Photoshop or InDesign skills, it is more about communicate with peers through collaborate. In nowadays, with demands rising for people who good at communication, those kinds of activities are exactly needed especially for international students. In addition to that, I can say I went from a noob who completely know nothing about Illustrator to those kinds of guy who use at least 5 Adobe software almost every day. I know it is not easy to get by the first semester, but, look, we did make some difference, right?
Sticker production line! I currently have the cutting cramps from manually cutting and trimming these god damn stickers. Just think about how good it’s going to look at the end, it’ll be all worth it! It’s difficult to present your creatives work in such a way that you don’t interfere when trying to present it. The idea behind “my” stickers is it’s generally something I love collecting and or creating. I feel it’s important to present my creatives work while also maintaining my own ideas and style. A lot of his work felt sticker worthy, and it was an interesting way to present it through a medium I love! It may be his design, but I was tasked to design a design artefact to showcase his designs. I more see it as paying homage or respects to him, giving him the exposure he deserves. If he were to ever make stickers out of his work (he should), I’d totally buy the hell out of them. 23. The End
Communication Design Studies has been an awesome adventure! I can say that it was an inspiring, intense educational experience. Never have I thought Communication Design Studies would be teaching all the history and theories of design. I personally didn’t have any main objectives for this class other than wanting to know more about design in general and being a better designer. But I’m sure making more friends was part of it.
Andy and Karen have motivated me to further explore typography, key historical moments of design, zine making and overall stepping out of the box to think creatively. Coming to a 9:30am lecture classes (this was hard) and 1:00pm workshops have made me become a more open-minded person. Also, learning something new each class is always a nice feeling and this is when you know you really like the subject.
One thing that has caught me to interest is the discussion about future of design. As being part of the millennial generation, social networks and technology have been dominating a lot of domains. This impacts the way we work and think about the future. So many of us are stuck in the technology world now, and not think about the other side of the screen. Andy and Karen made me change my perspective of design from the first project “My Question is…” and zine making as we are opened to use any kinds of materials to create art.
Overall, this class was a unique one. Just being surrounded by amazing friends and teachers did make the class a better one.
To Karen and Andy, you have helped a lot of students and especially inspired me to be a better designer, so I thank you for all the hard work.
Cheers!
Personal Application Icons Brief 1: Image and Identity
Omg can I just say when seeing everyone’s apps yesterday, I was blown away! Everyone has seriously done a really great job (applause for all you lads). I’ll admit, my self esteem was lowering each time I saw everyone’s apps haha. I wanted to give a little look/read of my brief for everyone. I didn’t include the rationale because it’s probably boring to read. I only just finished the brief 30 minutes ago so apologies for anyone yesterday who wanted to read my brief that wasn’t even done lol. My apps are definitely not like everyone else’s in terms of being traditional and looking all technology-ish (that even a word? oh well). I wanted to do something different and original, but I’m pretty happy with these!

good friday is my favourite day of the year as a sad period in the christian calendar is made hopeful (early) thanks to the good friday appeal. please donate to the royal children's, they do so much good for the littlest of our population and its a lot to admire.
back to the school work, honestly in love with everyones app designs and many of you extraordinarily talented people have seriously made me rethink my design dreams and what the hell I am doing in this course, still proud of you all anyway. I am relatively okay with the (very boring) final layout and (average) app designs I created but adore my little shakespeare. I definitely feel I have much to improve on and hope this year starts looking up for me.
