Hi! I am still pretty new to witchcraft, but I have some spare cash and want to get something nice for my practice.
Do you have any ideas on identifying useful/fun tools for a personal practice? especially for someone who hasn't really had a chance to try out something besides divination tools and is caught up in all the options.
If you're new to the craft and still building your kit and you want to get something special, I'd recommend a cauldron. You can generally find a nice 3-4" deep iron cauldron with legs and a lid for under $50.00 USD. (And yes I DO recommend getting the legs-and-lid model for added fire safety during use.) These are super useful tools for your witchy repertoire and you can just do SO much with them. I love my cauldron, it's one of my favorite things.
As for identifying personal tools, this kind of depends on what your preferences are and what you want to do. You could get a wand or use a wooden spoon or just gestures for directing magical energy. You could use a dedicated knife or little pruning snips or plain scissors for trimming and cutting up your herbs. Things will tend to present themselves as you develop your practices and you can build your toolkit as you find what works for your purposes.
For example, I tend to work with string and yarn a fair amount in my practice, almost as often as plants. To that end, my witchy toolkit includes a set of bespelled sewing implements. I happened to find a set of bone and horn nalbinding needles and decided that they would be my special tools for certain types of knotwork or binding spells. The rest of the kit includes carpet needles, darners, a couple of crochet hooks, a few spools of thread, and a special pair of scissors, all enchanted for particular purposes and kept aside solely for magical workings. This isn't something I heard about and decided to put together. The idea just sort of presented itself as I went along.
So yes, I definitely recommend a cauldron and also to keep an ear out for inspiration as you go. Hope this helps!
