Is that a transformation technique? If so, it’s a good one. The fake has nailed some very specific details about Kagami’s appearance, down to the curl by his left temple that prefers to stick to his skin rather than defy gravity like the rest of his hair.

He thinks that it must be an enemy ninja trying to use the Uchiha’s identity to infiltrate Konoha and now that he has been found, flounders for a way out. When Kagami activates his sharingan to look underneath the illusion, he gets the shock of a lifetime, though. The other’s chakra is the exact same colour as his own.

That’s like discovering that someone else has a copy of your fingerprints.

The boy that found her was not many years older than herself really. He had his clan’s dark hair and dark eyes but she was too young to even comprehend that he was actually an enemy. The girl was not even a year old, her hair a dark-brown fuzz and her eyes just the same.Her little body was curled up in what looked like a torn up silk kimono, white cranes flying agaisnt a sea green background.Maybe the little boy would see the dark spots in the fabric, or notice the nasty smell of dried blood but the little girl wrapped in the bloody fabric would cry no matter what he did from the moment he saw her.

When she had first come to Konoha, she had escorts. Several highly trained ninjas from the Uzumaki clan who wished to go with her had traveled. They had been attacked, but luckily Mito was always able to get away from the bandits or outlaws who sought to get her. Some knew who she was was, some knew where she was going, and others just wanted the valuables in her possession. She had always been with maidens in her manor to help her gather supplies.

Now she was going to go into the village to gather a few supplies and also have a meeting with a representative outside of the village. It was suggested that instead of just her handmaidens, it would be best to have someone from the Escort Corps attend to her. While Mito trusted her handmaidens, it would be a good sign for the village and the outsiders to show her trust with the company.

Preparing was simple enough. She had dressed and readied herself sometime ago and had been reading silently until she knew it was time. She almost glided across the floor, her kimono gently brushing against the ground before opening the door to her escort.

“I can’t tell if you’re genuinely trying to comfort me or if you’re trying to be philosophical. Either way, you’re failing.”

He sighed, head propped up with one hand while the other occasionally nudged an empty glass .

“I’d prefer if you didn’t try to tell me that I didn’t appreciate the lives of those I’ve lost while they were still alive. Otherwise...”

He shot a displeased, slightly-unfocused look at Kagami.

“--we’ll have some issues.”
