So back in the day i used to love doing star wars conceptual design (from the time was 13 to the time i was 22 tbh). I decided to fool around with some stuff and give it another go. This was also great practice in working from black and white to color, especially with the skin tones, so i may keep practicing with that using this character concept thing i’ve got going on.
I’m going to give a brief description of the character roles/types, and the names i cobbled together (walking a fine line between ‘kinda weird’ and ‘not that strange’.) because i had that sort of time this evening -_-;
Remmi (haven’t settled on a last name): Child of the resistance/rebellion- We see fighters, but I’ve got a hard time believing there’s not a rabble of resistance member’s children running around somewhere. I really love her color palette and the way the hood folds under the collar of her vest. Just cool lines. I don’t illustrate a lot of kids (it doesn’t come up in commission work that often), so this was fun to do.
Daala Rook: Shipyard Mechanic.Her mixed eyes were a last minute call after a bowie music video binge. Design is pretty conservative, but i did give her a hint of a neck tattoo. The lady looked like she needed it.
Tre Oannes: Resistance pilot (and yes Tom Hardy was my model). Found a new way to do stubble with this one, and any excuse to draw Tom is a good one.

Val Kiva: Arms runner for the resistance. (i really enjoy designing their head wraps) . She’s got a nose bridge piercing and a tattooed lip line, because honestly, i love that look. I also incorporated some mando style shoulder bells. I really like the brown and golds with her skin tone.
Adali Bell : Chief medical officer for the resistance. I wanted her to look very matronly in her get up, with the comfortable sweater neck and the muted color palette. Her skin tone has such a rich color that keeping the outfit looking muted and somewhat sterile (medical officer after all) seemed to work. I also brought her skin splotches up on her face for visual interest, and also because i find it very pretty.
Also, i wanted to make the medical officer look a bit older, because i can’t recall seeing any older female twi’leks in the films, and that kind of annoyed me.
ok that’s my crap for tonight. Headed to bed.
