I Went To The Get Back Exhibit In The Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame: A Photoessay Of Bad Photos, Pt. 3

OKAY, so after seeing the general Beatles collection, I got to the actual Get Back exhibit. It was really lovely—not massively big, but really beautifully designed and laid out. A lot of it consists of little screening areas with seating where portions of Get Back are being played; those are interspersed with instruments and clothes and little write ups about the major players in GB.

THEE Shirt! forgive the reflection of the screen behind me but also?????? Upon very close examination the pattern is actually floral—I thought it was stars!

The Fashion Girlie’s special suit!!!! Looks incredible (and very small!) up close

This fucking jacket makes me so emotional!!!! All the rips in it!?!? I don’t even know. Absolutely amazing to get a glimpse of the Libra Professional patch IRL.

Mo’s beautiful red jacket!!!!!!! Also weirdly emotional to see in person!

ROCKY!!! Cannot even say how cool this looks up close, the detail work is just unbelievably cute: the smiley faces, the suns, the clouds, the multicolored pick ups, “BE BOP A LULA” and “GO CAT GO”

I Was Supposed To See Ringo This Weekend But C*vid, Etc., So I Went To The Get Back Exhibit In The Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame: A Photoessay Of Bad Photos, Pt. 1

My first impression was like SHEESH this is massive!!!! It’s truly enormous and very imposing and also kind of silly looking. I got there around 10:30 so I assumed it wouldn’t be too crowded—absolutely not!!!!! I’d forgotten it was Father’s Day and the dads were truly on parade, out and about and wearing their Led Zeppelin tees and their cargo shorts.

I made a beeline for the Bugs (which was tough because it was truly packed and is laid out like the Minotaur’s maze) and found their general section!!! Seeing the Strawberry Fields mellotron took my breath away, tbh

The Asher family piano!!!! Imagining that Jane was like “l’m getting anything that wh*re has touched out of my house, if you don’t take it it’s firewood”

John’s 1958 Hofner Senator and passport!!! Look at that little hooligan!!!! 😭😭😭😭

John’s 1964 Rickenbacker, which still has the set list for their 1966 tour tapes to the back, and the cutest poster for their show at the Casanova Club. When I was checking the details of this guitar online I found an article about it that says “Naturally, since it was played by John Lennon, the guitar picked up some character along the way.” DRAG HIM!!!!!!

The suits!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely crazy to see them IRL; obsessed with how in character it is that Paul’s is perfectly preserved and complete and John’s is just the jacket. What did you do with the pants you weird girl???

George’s suit he wore to the premiere of Yellow Submarine and John’s custom flower jacket 🥹

John’s crazy electric guitar organ (which he eventually gave to Mal), Ringo’s sticks, John’s jacket, and an outline of the structure of Hey Jude!
