Crack fic prompt that sounds interesting and lowkey a MC that wants chaos thrown at their dad for being a literal 💩. I just thought that it would be entertaining for MC to tell E disguised as butterfly their thoughts on the engagement and E’s reaction to what MC has to say.
The prompt:
Mc is neutral to the announcement of the pending marriage and during the masquerade, MC meets butterfly who is E. E is disguised as butterfly starts chatting/flirts with MC and MC rejects them saying that they are engaged. ButterflyE! gauges the MC reaction when asked about the betrothed and what the MC wants to do during the masquerade.
MC: I only wanted to see what the masquerade was like. My betrothed? I have yet to form an opinion of them. Although, I am sure that my father is keeping options of other suitors open in a sense.
MC in their head: (If the rumors are false, I could try to negotiate with E to favorable conditions for myself and those I care about, but if the rumors are indeed true, then I will need to investigate other avenues of escape)

How would E react to an Mc who, post getting married against their will, shuts down completely and starts living like a ghost.
Maybe it starts small with the Mc avoiding looking at people, and then they stop really speaking. Eventually they stop leaving their room all together. Then they refuse meals, and without intervention will become dangerously thin and frail.
Would E have someone force feed them? I imagine that would be the only thing that could make this Mc react- they'd be clawing and kicking and screaming at the person trying to do it to them, and crying horribly.
Yeah, they would have someone force feed the MC broth and such 😩 I can see them going and doing it themself though, tbh, thinking in some twisted way that the MC will see them as their savior and fall for them. Even with the MC crying, kicking screaming, they think the ends justify the means.
After reading Es response to the MC getting a tattoo, im very curious about what else the MC could do to terrorize them.
Im imagining a MC who hates E but wasn't able to escape the marriage for whatever reason. Maybe they show up to an event wearing inappropriate clothes for the occasion, or something wildly out of fashion. Maybe they start rumors that E performs rather poorly in the bedroom.
Or maybe if they're really mad they'll just set Es wardrobe on fire (E should be grateful its not their office).
The funny thing about the tattoo ask is that that's what would happen in a good relationship with them, as a gesture of good faith 😂
The clothes thing is interesting because you'll see their reactions to this in the story... but attempting to spread rumors like that would cause a huge scandal. In a relationship where there is mutual disdain, E wouldn't exactly be practicing celebacy, but they would at least be discreet about it. If the MC were to try to insult them like that, they'd become quite a tyrant among the peers, seducing married persons and widow/ers because he'd want the MC to see their pleased faces at balls, etc. Not many would want to duel E over it, either, but those who do wouldn't be met with anything honorable.
Overall, a MC who constantly instigates would likely become the gothic trope of "abandoned spouse in the attic of the country estate" (setting fire to E's wardrobe calls to mind Jane Eyre.)
Since E doesn't initiate sex often bc they want MC pent up, if MC initiated often would that turn E off?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assumed aside from High Protocol and Sugar Baby, all the rest of E's shorts were written with an E and MC that held at least some affection for each other. I definitely read their last one like that as well! Like, E has affection but E being the dom they are don't indulge MC at all bc they're currently just serving a purpose and that's part of the power play. But I'm also a hardcore E lover so I have an inherent bias LOL

I purposefully left it a little ambiguous as to what the MC's relationship was like with them, as part of the fun was getting to explore different relationship dynamics with Edith and Edward in particular. If I were to put a frame of reference for what kind of relationship each short could work for, 1 being mutual loathing, 1.5 being MC loathing E ... 5 being a deep abiding love:

Sugar Baby: 1-3 (maybe even a 4 if there was some kind of love between them but the MC didn't actually have any real interest in sleeping with them?)
