As a filmmaker, ex-BMXer and occasional bystander to some incredible riding, the most interesting part for me now is the phycology, camaraderie, and banter that happens before, after and around the physical act of the "trick". I appreciate BMX (or skateboarding) is a tough, judgemental audience riddled with A.D.D, but I think its a shame so much of this good stuff goes undocumented within the rigid "trick porn" framework.
With that in mind, I found this extended version of Jimmy Levan's classic Church Gap an interesting breath of fresh air - even if it did happen over 10 years ago. Guess thats why I'm a sucker for Epic Laterd too. Patrick and the crew do a great job telling the stories of the skaters and the their epic video parts. A good example is the vid below, where a shrink gets to the bottom of Andrew Reynolds amusing pre-trick madness and OCD...
