My shroud is the wind | Mon linceul est le vent
4 miles today in the rain to finish out the week at 38 miles. That doesn’t sound like a huge number but it’s the most I have done in very long time and that’s because I recently made a decision to step up my level. After a disastrous race performance a month ago, I resolved that something had to change. The 20-mile or so weeks I was doing just weren’t getting it done, and it was time to stop using age, busy-ness, and work/life responsibilities as excuses. We all have things as amateur mere mortal athletes to deal with, and others like me are making it work. In other words, the problem was me and I can fix that. It was time to be the change I want to see, and I decided to get to work. So far I am glad I did.

Being competitive with myself. Finally starting to see serious improvement in my fitness. I’m so proud of myself for committing to something just for my physical well being. Not only am I starting to look good, mentally I’m probably in the best place I have been in a very long time.
Got the miles in today… went for a smoke. Camacho Barrel Aged is my go to
A running adventure I did!
Around 12:30 pm on a Wednesday afternoon during Thanksgiving break I awoke from a nap with the sudden impulse to run a half marathon from my university campus to central Washington DC. Thirty minutes later I was dressed, hydration vest packed and secured with warm layers, snacks, liquids, and my phone.
Taking local trails almost the whole way I covered the distance in 2:30:13. If you are looking for a sign to do fun, physically challenging activities on impulse, here’s your sign.
This was one of the coolest things I’ve done in a long time and I’m already searching for the next adventure ;3
