a summer’s eve

the tracks stretched to touch a violet sky

an empty expanse of time traveled just to touch your hand

a twist of lime, a splash of gin as the train whistle cut ribbons of lavender lace into eventide

at the silent lake

becoming a muskrat paradise diving around the bridge while fireflies twinkle

lanterns across the verdant meadow, we were never so alone

or so alive as when we held our breath and dissolved

into wisps of the indigo lushness a spell of summer’s eve
