I'm rambling a lot abt like 30 different topics but I just remembered something Andy might like In West of Loathing you have the opportunity to go to a circus and, in KoL fashion, all the clowns are human-shaped monsters that just barely have enough decency and politeness needed to not kill you on the spot. They're entertainers first, murderous predators last. It costs 5,000 meat for a ticket into their circus, an absolutely immense amount of money, but you have the option of intimidating the clown running the ticket booth to try and get a better price. Normally, intimidating is simply a matter of having a high enough Intimidatin' skill level, and has a 100% success ratio. Against a clown, though? He just smiles with his pointed, yellow teeth. "Back away, pal. You're completely out of your depth." Thus far, this is the only event in the game where attempting to be intimidating does absolutely nothing. There's even an optional encounter with an immensely powerful stone golem that's automatically won if your Intimidatin' skill is high enough, but no matter how high your skill is, you can't scare a clown.
