I was able to visit the amazing Gig Harbor and stopped by Heritage Distilling Co. There is a pretty cool tasting bar and retail shop with cask club barrels lining the walls. A detailed tasting and cocktail menu is offered, with a bonus if you purchase a bottle. The staff was both friendly and knowledgeable, and it was a joy to hang out with them. I sampled Elk Rider Bourbon and Double Barrel Bourbon, as well as Elk Rider Rye and Double Barrel Rye. The double Barrel or second barrel is a vanilla barrel. In both double barrels, I was able to pick up on extra rich Vanilla flavors. This was a little unexpected when I sampled the Bourbon Double Barrel. I prefer both the Elks over the double barrel, but I always lean towards more traditional flavors. Elk Rider Bourbon was smooth to start with notes of Oak first and then finished with subtle honey and oats. A good bourbon that has aged 2 years. Elk Rider Rye was my favorite. It was super smooth with a citrus and honey start and a slight peppery classic rye finish. I highly recommend trying their infused spirits. I enjoyed the wide variety of flavored Vodkas and believe you could create a fun bar with all the spirits Heritage Distilling Co. has to offer.
