On January 21, 2017, over 5 million people took to the streets in cities across the world to walk together under the following Mission Statement: We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families - recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country. This portrait project sets out to document those inspired to resist the king tide of negative values and rhetoric which run counter the America we have come to know. Women and those who stand in solidarity are saying, “I have a voice. I am going to use it. I will not be marginalized or objectified. I will not be decided for or bullied. I will not espouse hate or abide inequality. I will resist.” These are the faces representing a budding movement. This project is about continuing the conversation. It’s about not being silent and not fading away. #ROAR #ROARphotoproject #ShePersisted (at San Jose, California)
