From a beautiful evening at Acco's Conservatory of Music. Three altos, one Cannonball.
Amikam Kimmelman, Robert Anchipolovsky and Kobi Salomon (left to right) paid tribute to the music of jazz giant Cannonball Adderley. Great arrangements, nice interplay and top-notch playing, together with the energetic work of pianist Yonatan Riklis, bassist Dimi Grodsky and drummer Gideon Pesahov.
In their last tune, Nat Adderley's 'Jive Samba', the band easily hit the kind of laid-back groove that Cannonball's Quintet was famous for, burning this evening straight into long-term memory.
