Robert wasn’t one to think much of others, so the weird thing he was feeling in his chest felt off and unreal. It was almost like his body was trying to tell himself. So confused, he mistook it as a danger warning. But as he pulled away from her, he ached more than he had when he was close. She pulled him back, holding his hands gently before landing a hand against his chest. The way she looked at him was with such admiration and adoration, it made his chest flutter. Holding her hand over his chest, he swallowed. “I don’t know what this is or what I’m feeling.”

She raised her brows and leaned in, “does it tingle?”

“Mmmhm,” he hummed, resting his forehead against hers.

“And does it make you warm?”

“A little.” “Maybe a heart attack,” she said and he pulled away, worried and confused. “No!” she laughed, pulled him back in and held him at the waist. Her head pressed against his chest. “Most people identify that feeling as love, you know?”

Robert took in a deep breath, his hands pressed against her back, keeping her close. “Perhaps that is what it is…love. I think, in a way, I love you.”
