Rewatched Despicable Me 3 and I've noticed few new things:
Balthazar Bratt's lair is full of not only eighties aesthetic, but also toys. And I don't mean just the Evil Bratt toy line, I mean normal toys that can be bought in our world too, like yo-yo or Rubik's Cube. Which probably is supposed to indicate further that he didn't really grow up; that he's clinging to the past not only for his former glory, but also because of his childhood (really, he looks even sadder, the longer you think about it).
Technically Dru's house counts as a villain lair, since it belonged to Robert so what is it saying about Robert as a villain? Well, it looks like a residence of a rich man with elaborate roofing and pools. Inside the main hall has fancy decorations with fresks and shit; and on the back there is a whole collection of red vehicles. It gives off the feel of a billionaire who has a lot of money and wants to showcase how rich he is. Then, in a basement (similar to a lot of other supervillain houses), we have the gear of Bald Terror, but also the monuments for the past generations of Gru Clan specilizing in villainy. The fact that Dru keeps talking about family traditions and about Robert saying that he wished Dru was more like Gru, I suppose that Robert was very proud of his roots.
There is a moment when Lucy starts to act weird. At first I thought that the first indication she might be Bratt is disguise was that she threatened Gru with violance after she rescued him and Dru (since her vibes were off and I found it hard to believe she would threaten Gru just like that... then I remembered their first meeting). However, when the family was preparing to leave, she was acting more like Bratt and Gru found his wife in the closet. So I guess the switch happened some time after they came back.
