Who is Julie Blattberg? Is she part of VFD?
For reference, Julie Blattberg is a real-life photographer known for her work on New York city (Link). I’m not sure whether Alison Donalty (the series’ graphical designer, with help from Robert Hult) managed to get such a high-class artist to work on parts of the un-Authorized Autobiography. Most of the pictures used in the book seem to montages of old black-and-white photos, which would have been free or rights. The only exceptions are the photographs where Lemony appears with his back facing the camera, but these ones were always taken by Meredith Heuer, the series’ official photographer. Howard Huang took the cover’s color photograph… and that’s about it. If Julie Blattberg really made photographs for this book, I don’t know which ones. It’s possible she’s one of the cultural allusions Daniel Handler likes to drop in the text from time to time.
Daniel Handler, Brett Helquist and Meredith Heuer are all stated to be part of the V.F.D. conspiracy in the Autobiography, or at the very least to work with the canonical Lemony. Is Julie Blattberg a volunteer as well? I don’t see why not.
