Robert Minor comic in The Masses magazine, 1915
For May Day we offer two somewhat similar cartoons by noted left-wing political cartoonist Robert Minor. We found these in a polemical collection called Red Cartoons (1928), which reprints work found originally in the Daily Worker newspaper.
"Zeppelin", New York [NY] Evening World, 8/27/1914 [p.14]. A Robert Minor political cartoon depicting the zeppelin as a skeletal gargoyle dropping bombs over the countryside.
"A War Map", New York [NY] Evening World, 8/20/1914 [p.12]. The shadow of the Kaiser falls across a map of western Europe, the spike on his pickelhaube pointing through Belgium towards Paris.
At Last a Perfect Soldier! by Robert Minor. First published on the back cover of The Masses, July 1916.
