"...the iteration takes over the former record store Schallplatten Brigitte, one of the first in Vienna dating back to 1959. The original modernist façade is preserved, while inside guests are ensconced in an illusionary walk-in installation. The walls, floors, columns and built-in furniture are clad entirely in white ceramic tiles. A lack of windows or any source of natural light means that guests could be anywhere, at any time. Mirrored panels on the ceiling and neon LED tube lights create an infinity effect within the space. Artistic guest appearances on certain evenings further enhance a performative quality. To enter, guests must walk through the toilets, a contrast that counteracts the elegant nobility of the Loos original. Moreover, the sterile, uninviting associations of the stark white tiles, such as a psych ward or cell, add further difference and dimension to the artists’ interpretation..."
