WRG!News: UEFA CLASH OF THE BLUES AND THE REDS
The Rise of a New School of Titans
With the recent dethronement of “King Kenny” Daglish and the hype surrounding the selection of the England National team, most civilians would assume that the UEFA Champions League final wasn’t on for another month or so. Is it just that the final has lost its value( FC Barcelona aren’t in) or is the gossip just that much better?
Fair enough, no one really expected Chelsea to be playing in the final, then again, I don’t think many within the Stamford Bridge locker-room expected reaching the greatest club football stage of them all. But come the 19th, at the Allianz Arena, Chelsea hold the opportunity to silence their critics. Ninety minutes in which to grant Roman Abramovichthe title he’s been searching for so desperately, and earn interim manager - Roberto Di Matteo - the permanent managerial post, which most football pundits think he already deserves. All that if only they can overcome Bayern München on their home ground.
There’s also that tiny dark cloud of no Champions League next season for Chelsea if they don’t win on Saturday night hanging over their heads, due to their inconsistent performances in the Barclay’s Premier League, which ended with them finishing in 6th place.
For now though victory lies entirely at the hands of Di Matteo and his soldiers, although he's going to have to do it without the leadership of captain John Terry as well as key players Raul Meireles, Ramires and Branislav Ivanovic, all of whom are banned after being booked against Barcelona.
Questions remain as to whether the “Blue” of Chelsea can overcome the “Red” that’s taken over Munich. For now though, we’re going to have to wait until Saturday evening to see which team maximises their potential in this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Let the battle commence!
Tonight I have the privilege of watching two of the most in form teams fight it out for a top four spot. Roberto Di Matteo's renovated Chelsea against Alan Pardrew's in form Newcastle United.
Despite Newcastle's blip against Wigan at the weekend we will no doubt see The Magpies come flying out to win this game and attempt to do the unthinkable, get Champions League football. People forget that Newcastle only came back up from the Championship a couple of years ago so to be where the are is an outstanding achievement. Chelsea will need to be solid defensively to try and stop the unstoppable Papa Cisse and try and prevent Yohan Cabaye from pulling the strings in midfield. It wont be an easy task for Chelsea.
Chelsea however have become a force under RDM and his choice of tactics and the fact he and his team have been on a superb run as of late will make them difficult to stop. Chelsea will be up for the fight knowing they can't purely rely on winning the Champions League to be in the competition next year and with RDM's ability to get the best out of this crop of players this will be a battle and with Torres surprisingly being able to score under RDM Newcastle's back four need to be careful of his recent eye for goal, whatever people think he is a threat.
It will be a great game when two of the most in form sides in the Premier League collide, the question is who will be the winner?
