I’d sit alone and watch your light My only friend through teenage nights And everything I had to know I heard it on my radio.

More than anything else, since the Pandemic, my mum’s old Roberts radio has been a godsend.

Whether decorating or doing any odd jobs or sitting and reading I’ve always got the radio on, on BBC Radio Stoke.

By the way, Roberts was my mum’s maiden name.

1980s BBC Radio 1 coffee/tea mug. This would be used in the studio and apparently you could sign a form to win it.

My very belated birthday prezzie, well actually a replacement birthday prezzie as the first one was 2 tickets to see Erasure in concert for May 2022 in Belfast, but they recently cancelled the entire tour :( So we used the refunded ticket money to get a top end Digital Radio from Roberts. Roberts Rambler BT Stereo Bluetooth DAB/DAB+/FM Radio Wouldn’t normally spend £130 on radio but my Bush DAB radio was getting on a bit and it was starting to distort at louder volumes and heavier songs. Radio is used daily in my house so thought might as well go with the Roberts brand seems as its so well known for quality. So far impressed and the Bluetooth link up with my Sony HD Walkman is a superb bonus. And i really dig the 1970′s wood and leather look.

Roberts R757 Radio refurbishment project – Raspberry Pi inside!

For a few years, I have been following the work of Martin Mander, a hobbyist with a passion for refurbishing and repurposing vintage electrical equipment. Recently, Martin repurposed a 1970s transistor radio to create an internet radio. This inspired me to look around to see what I could find to do something similar.

I was given a RobertsR600 like the picture below "See if you can do anything with it”  This was what I found when I finaly removed the battery cover. PCB and internal bracketry in much the same state. Not worth going any further...
