Mouseman Table Lamp by Robert Thompson 12" x 3.5" x 3.5" Vintage English Oak Hand Carved Lamp Stand, Circa 1940, Immaculate Condition Robert Thompson was a cabinet maker from Yorkshire England, he lived between 1876 and 1955. A mouse is carved onto all of Thompson's pieces. Registered as a trademark in the 1930's it is said to have been inspired by the early days of his career when he found himself 'as poor as a church mouse'. Each Thompson piece is handmade by one craftsman who is responsible for the whole process from choosing the timber to applying the final coat of wax.
