Tesla is such a good character for DW it's a wonder he hasn't been done before (same with Ada Lovelace)#A smart script uses a lot of parallels so that almost every conversation about or to tesla (see quote above) could work for the doctor too #Glenister puts a little Trump into his Eddison so that we're clear from the start that although he isn't the bad guy he certainly isn't a #Good guy (altho I liked that he wasn't straight up horrible too; talking about his workers families and his shock at their deaths).#Scorpion aliens were pretty interesting and I liked that they were basically scavenger pretenders rather than another great menace but the #One moment that struck me as off was unsurprisingly the willingness with which 13 blew them to hell. I considered quoting her speech about #Them failing to evolve and nobody remembering them but without context that could very easily be assumed to be a quote from the villain #Which. Yknow. That's interesting. If this is going somewhere then sure maybe it will work. But if the doc is back to sunshine and light #Next ep then it will just feel like a single scene of clunky character work in an otherwise pretty decent episode

Hosts Ann and Amy sat down for an exclusive interview with Robin Guiver, the Supervising Creature Puppeteer on the first two Fantastic Beast

Robin Guiver: I don't think it made it in the end, but there was a section inside the case, the world in the case which was like a dark cave area. I feel like the kind of a version of it got onto YouTube at one point. I'm not sure if it's still there or not. But when they went through these caves, there was this... Gosh, I can't remember what it's called. This thing's like kind of flying blankets. Oh, my goodness, I can't remember what it's called now. It wasn't the Swooping Evil－The Lethifold, that was it. So we were sort of like, "Look, we don't really have time to build something really clever and the budgets are very tight now." It was towards the end of the film. It was the last thing we were filming. So I kind of made this thing out of a big black cloth with like kind of some wire and two sticks, like a sort of gymnastics ribbon really, like a very big gymnastics ribbon I can kind of fly around and then wave around. It can swoop up and appear and then swoop away and disappear again. We never shot it in the end because I think the sequence's changed from the original conception of it, but it took so long to kind of work out how on earth did you set off this thing in Leavesden studio, kind of filming myself for my phone. What is this? What if you stood in and the wire wasn't strong enough so it get bendings? I'll do stronger wire. I really didn't know where to source a lot for my equipment at that point as well, so I was gonna play, "Can I borrow this and that from other departments?" "Oh, yeah yeah yeah." Oh yeah, it got kind of do-it-yourself puppet making at the time. I'm really not a puppet maker. I puppeteer and I perform and I love the character side of it and there were people who really excel at making the puppets side of things as well. So that was out of my wheelhouse. I mean, it was definitely there. There was pre-vis of it.
