Well this sounds wild. Another musical for Reece, eh? 😅 (source)
Reece is scheduled to appear 3 times at Latitude Festival next week:
Thursday 23 July 8.40pm - Return of the Killer Crabs: A Musical
Saturday 25 July 6.20pm - The Films of Sam Neill (with Robin Ince, Alice Fraser, and special guests)
Saturday 25 July 9.10pm - An Uncanny Hour (with Robin Ince)
Robin Ince, a science presenter, resigned from the BBC because they didn't like him supporting trans people, so fuck the BBC, as usual, but also if you wanted to give him a huge following to make the BBC look like the dumb motherfuckers they are, he is on BlueSky.
By Robin Ince, from Let the Quiet Ones Rise
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it
I know this will not mean much to most of my followers and mutuals but I am really sad and angry about this. Robin Ince, comedian, writer and all round decent human being has been forced to resign from 'The Infinite Monkey Cage'. For those unfamiliar, this is a show on BBC radio in the UK which combines science and comedy, and was generally a fun and educational time. Robin, who is politically outspoken and a vocal supporter of trans rights, states that the BBC had made it clear to him that he could not continue as a presenter while expressing these views. As Robin was unwilling to censor himself he has chosen to step down.
I'm sad for a show I loved and for the impact on Robin's career. I'm enraged and terrified by what this says about the current state of the BBC. Support for trans people is apparently intolerable. Meanwhile, bigots and right wing extremists are given every kind of platform.
It's not new, and it's not an isolated case. Just one more example of the slow chipping away of compassion and decency and freedom. Just one more example of the terrifying success of the transphobic agenda in the UK and beyond.
Fuck.
I was looking for this poem the other day but cannot remember where I've left the book it is in so, here you go tumblr: a poem about telling people you love them before they're dead, from the lovely robin ince
