I mean it had to have been a desire to be critically liked again that drove him to do those roles at all but I can’t remember what the reception to those films were at the time so he did want approval on some level at the time

I think they were received decently enough, but they didn't make as much money as his OTHER movies.

For example, Reign Over Me made 22 million. While I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry made over 100 million.

Two Adam Sandler movies, released in the same year, about firefighters, and the horrible, offensive one made the most money. ._.

I know right? He HAS done good serious roles before such as that, Spanglish and Reign Over Me.

But he chooses money over any kind of likability. :U
