Robogals is an international society which encourages young girls to take an interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) subjects. I'm part of the Aberdeen Univeristy chapter of the society and we've entered the Spotify Society Sound Clash competition to try to win some money for our society! If we do win then the money is then given to the university, and only allowed to be spent on equipment for the society. We'd really appreciate as many people following our playlist as possible so we can use the money to improve the science workshops we do with kids!!

YOOOOOOO everyone cuz I was just reminded that I haven't talked about this: I'm getting flown to Perth tomorrow morning for a Robogals executive conference!!!! I'm sleeping overnight in Sydney tonight because the flight is at like 8am and just thinking about catching the train to Sydney overnight, then getting on a plane for five hours, then doing a full day of conference, is making my eyelids twitch. The conference itself sounds really exciting but as a result I won't be around much (since tumblr mobile is complete shit). Plus I plan to have a nap then drive back to Tamworth on Tuesday after I get in from Perth, so that adds another half-day or so to my away time. I've bulked my queue up so it should cover the next few days n.n

TL;DR I'm away until Tuesday night/Wednesday morning probably, queue should keep my blog active till then!

Mission: RoboPossible! 

I'm a part of Robogals, a volunteer organisation that aims to get more girls into the heavily male-dominated science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. We have 21 chapters across 4 continents and continue to grow; my chapter, Newcastle, started about this time last year.

This video was made for the third Robogals YouTube Challenge, which was to showcase the most original and engaging robotics challenge that could be used during a workshop. I had a big hand in making it, and I really enjoyed myself.

TL;DR we made a thing, go watch it!

"For the first time, the coeducational Australian Science and Mathematics school has appointed a Girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) co-ordinator, Karen Palumbo, to increase interest among girls in those careers."

This is pretty cool! I could not be more thrilled that there is such a movement to get girls more interested in science! Not going to lie though, I kind of wish I knew about all these great programs when I was a girl. Let's hope it only gets better when the day comes that I  have a little girl of my own.
