WIP: Battle of Hoth (working title) diorama. Things are getting real now. Added some pins to the feet to secure the AT-AT to the base and found some wire that is both scale appropriate and strong enough to hold the weight of the snow speeder. Tricky part now will be to wrap this wire around so that it looks tight around the legs. WIP: Battle of Hoth (working title) diorama. Calling the AT-AT done! I am at the point now where I am fussing so it’s a good sign to stop and move on. Will add snow to the feet and other parts once I fix it to the base and add some foot prints behind. I also puttied up the sides of the diorama ready to sand up and paint. WIP: Battle of Hoth (working title diorama). Getting grubbier and grubbier as the nights go by. Been really struggling for time as there is an awful lot going on in my life at the moment but I can see the light now! Two legs done, two to go then I can call the AT-AT done. May add one or two spot filters to some panels on the body for interest but I’m very happy with it. Big learning point for me is to get my process flow nailed down. WIP: Battle of Hoth (working title diorama). Started some very light sponge chipping on the head. For some reason I have been a bit nervous starting the weathering process on this build. I think it's probably because I'm a little rusty (pun intended), not so familiar with the scale and that I'm consciously holding myself back from going overboard. I put so much effort into the dio that I really want the vehicles to stand up and match the quality. I also have to remind myself (again) that this is just a layer and not the final product. I have the fuzzy, soju soaked memories of chatting with @weatheredaz and @nozakuboy about this too! I'm not generally a confident guy so these are the small battles I face when I build but I have great crew and community around me. WIP: Battle of Hoth (working title diorama). Finally got around to painting the AT-AT. Primed with Mr Surfacer 1200, pre shaded with flat black and coated with a very light grey. I don’t usually do shading but I thought this would be a good opportunity to use to break up the grey and add some interest. I’ll be doing some very light chipping before jumping into washes and oil work over the next couple of days.
