             Matt reads the messages && laughs. Tadashi doubts his skill? Matt will have to correct such a grievous error. He grins. That will be fun for them both, he should think. Quickly, he types out a response on his phone.

         For Matt, it had always been PEOPLE, && NOT PLACES that were home. His mother && father, his sister, Shiro-- with them, he’d felt at home. So when they’d gone to KERBEROS, he’d sat in the ship with his father && Shiro, && he was HOME, && he felt SAFE. && when they’d been CAPTURED by the Galra, at least he’d still been with Shiro, && he hadn’t been safe but at least they’d been TOGETHER, && he was still at home. 

         && then, Shiro had been taken into the ring to die, && for the first time, Matt had felt DESPAIR wash over him. He was well && truly ALONE, but what hurt the most was that Shiro was GONE. He’d never see Shiro again. He was reunited with his father, && for Shiro, Matt had fought to keep them both ALIVE, but there was a hole that couldn’t be filled, && at night, Matt lay down && he WEPT. && then, his father had been taken from him too, && Matt knew then: NOTHING WOULD EVER BE OKAY AGAIN.

         Home was forever out of Matt’s reach.
