Phoenix Journals – ROBOTOIDS, SYNTHETICS AND NEUTRALS

I have just made a decision
First, let me give some context behind why there is a decision in the first place:
I have been formulating a sort of canon for a bunch of technological organisms, essentially robots that can self-produce and reproduce, tentatively called Robotiods (hey, if you got something better than that, you let me know.) They are primarily robots, but are able to experience feelings and emotions much in the same way as humans can.
So, important things to note about them:
At the core of each Robotoid is a logic/emotion matrix (called a logematrix or log/em-matrix for short) that cannot be altered or destroyed and determines each Robotoid's personality, r-gender, and useful function (i.e. what sorts of jobs they can perform); however, that logematrix is not the power source for the robotoid, so should a Robotoid cease to function, it would not be because of logematrix failure, as they were created to be infallible. It is possible, though, for other software or hardware to malfunction and act against the logematrix, causing big problems.
The lifespan of Robotoids is nigh infinite, so long as the robotoids receive regular maintenance to keep in tip-top shape, especially in keeping their power sources in check. As a result, they can virtually be immortal.
Robotoids, having emotions, can be in relationships much the same way as humans can, except the relationships that involve any sort of intimacy are purely governed as binary between two "r-genders" (of which there is simply 1 and 0, just like actual computer Binary, and it literally just means robotoid-genders) The reason for that is because the logematrix determines gender from the get-go, and it is either a solid "positive charge" (0) or "negative charge" (1), and because as a result, opposites literally attract; a positive cannot be in a relationship with another positive because they mentally and emotionally repel each other 99% of the time, like, they can befriend each other, but unless they have opposite r-genders, they can't go any further than that. It's part of their programming and they just don't feel it, literally. It's impossible for a positive to be attracted to a positive, nor a negative to a negative. [I expect some of you who have read this far to misconstrue this as being homophobic or transphobic and whatnot, but that's not what it is. "Well what is it then?" you might ask, if you are one of those people. It's my canon, for my characters, so that's the way I want it to be, since they're robots. If you would like to develop your own headcanons, which I would be surprised if this even got popular enough for anyone to want to do so, then you may feel completely free to do that.] More specifically on the way the r-genders work, though, since it has to do with their intimacies: A Robotoid does not need to be strictly masculine or feminine in appearance in order to be a specific r-gender. In general, 0's do tend to have more feminine characteristics than 1's, and 1's usually have more masculine characteristics than 0's, but there are no specific guidelines within their logematrices causing that to be the way the r-genders must work.
Physical contact of any form between a couple results in transference of data input in what Robotoids would consider intimate, and the transfer can be achieved simply by being in physical contact with each other, but it can also be anywhere from holding hands to full-on cuddling (which isn't as easy for them since they're mostly made of metal). The data input isn't necessarily sharing of knowledge or useful information, it's more like an innate way for them to feel that they are connected more so than just physically, and the more contact there is, the more they feel it.
There are deeper intimacies to Robotoids' relationships, but I won't explain that here; that will be elaborated upon somewhere else so you can see it at your own risk (I will explain where at the end). However, related to that, when a Robotoid couple wants to actually have a "child" of sorts, they have to literally build it. That building process can be equated to going through labor. Most Robotoids use parts from their own bodies to help supplement the basic protoform (similar to those found in Transformers, but not composed of liquid cybertronium) that is meticulously produced en masse at many factories within cities where robotoids live, but they can find or purchase whatever parts they can get in order to supplement the protoform. There are always enough parts within the parent robots to build a full two protoforms at once; anything outside of that is to make their child "better" somehow. Robotoids built in that manner have their own individual logematrix, and the years of development that follow the "birth" of the Robotoids are what formulate its logematrix. Those years are what determine the specific function and personality of each Robotoid. The sort of chassis that a Robotoid has may either limit or expand its functionality options (as Robotoids can range from looking very close to humans to not even being humanoids at all, some even having multiple forms but all of them have the natural potential to change dramatically early on), but its personality is completely up to the logematrix. The determination of the r-gender is immediate as soon as the logematrix is activated the first time and is as simple as a coin toss.
So, what the heck does this all have to do with a decision? Well, basically, I'm gonna open a little side blog to accommodate all this information and so I can keep all the Robotoids all in one place, and also so that others can join me (literally through submission) if they so desire and add their own Robotoids to the ranks, of which there are only currently ~4. If you've made it this far, and you have a penchant for drawing robots as much as I do, feel free to submit something to robotoid-central.tumblr.com. And if you don't want to, that's okay, I'll just post my own robotoids doing stuff there, and maybe some of my redraws of others' robotoids, as well, if there are any.
I will also create a masterpost on the blog itself including this information that I will use to keep the canon in check and so others may have a reference if they so desire. I know I'll need it.
