Something Different Sundays:
Show Me Love by Robyn S (1990)
Many of you probably dig that Sam Feldt hit, Show Me Love, featuring Kimberly Anne, a summery house rendition of the timeless Robyn S classic. What you might not know is that Kimberly crafted the vocal cover of the song first, before Sam Feldt came upon that cover and utilized it for the slamming dance track. UK singer songwriter Kimberly Anne has been the object of much praise on IHM prior to the Sam Feldt hit. Her exquisite vocals are unique and compelling, and you can hear them shine ever brilliantly on the newly released soulful cover of Show Me Love, above. Not only do we get to listen to that spectacular cover, but Kimberly Anne also gifted us much more than that... Show Me Love / A Little Bit Of Luck is a bit of a stripped down, earthy, acoustic meets downtempo electronic medley, too. Kimberly Anne inserts some late 90′s DJ Luck & Mc Neat near the end of the cover. Heartfelt, earnest delivery and sweeping, raw sentiment combine with Kimberley’s spectacular voice to make this medley a captivating, moving experience.

Boy listen carefully to me now, Cause this is something every man should know. Oh this is a lesson about how You treat your girl right just let it show, That you love her that you need her say, That you want her in every way. You gotta show your girl a little respect, Or you won’t get nothing back but hate.
It’s those little things that mean so much, You gotta treat her right, Or get out…

Adele vs Robyn S- Show me in the Deep
pretty fucking awesome
90s throwback, & still highly danceable today.
BTW, Oxford really needs to add "danceable" before 2012.
In new-ish music we trust - No 16 - Jason Derulo
I will give this guy credit at least he name checks himself before the song begins giving you enough time to turn it down or change channel. This is more about his latest offering 'Don't wanna go home' an absolute turgid piece of nonsense when you dissect the original parts that you can attribute to Mr Derulo. The other bits are Robyn S 'Show me love' again another early 90s club track sampled for the benefit of propping up lame RnB as seems the vogue at the moment. At least it's not like Travie McCoy who I understand sampled (or interpolated I think the correct term is) 'Alright' by Supergrass. Effectively stealing a youth anthem from a generation beforehand, apparently the one I'm from, the thieving swine. In Derulo's case if Show me love by Robyn S wasn't as esoteric enough he then goes into the Banana Boat Song. Perhaps its just me realising what the composite parts are in making up this track that to younger ears doesn't pick up thinking it fresh. Am I get old are samples just getting far too obvious these days. For me the original part which I've mentioned before is just whiny with vocally sounding like a window squeegee and that's not the vocoder either. I'm struggling to see how this guy has won so many accolades as he has.
