not to be That Person but i do actually think more people would understand the brudick csa allegory if dick were a girl because we as a society have an easier time conceptualizing violence against girls than boys. it's all a symptom of the patriarchy painting women and girls as perpetual victims of course but i do think the habit of bruce backhanding dick and sleeping in same bed and "we have a personal secret you cant tell anyone about and we only do it at night when the rest of the world is oblivious" thing would more easily read as physical and sexual abuse if richard were rachel ykwim
