You know those people who are like you never see them apart from each other? Absolute best friends of whom the absence of one of the pair just feels /wrong/? Because I feel like that’s you and why-bless-your-heart, there is hardly a post by either of you that doesn’t have the other adding an excellent addition or supportive cheerleading and it’s awesome.
I think her supporting me was literally how it started, I drew a hand I liked after a really long period of trying to draw a successful hand and she reblogged it just to show everybody and I haven’t forgotten that. It might not sound like much when I say it that way, but it’s just the kind of thing she habitually does for people. She’s consistently made me feel good about my work and myself in moments when I wouldn’t have even thought it was possible. I’m absolutely honored to be associated with her in any way, she’s just a cool and smart and endlessly generous individual who I’m so grateful to know.
Also I’m always glad for an excuse to say her webcomic @starsasclearasmud is a real humdinger and you should check it out. This part isn’t even in the main thread but I reread it at least once a month and it’s the perfect sample of what she’s good at. The only thing better than her character designs is her character interactions. 👌
On the one hand I hope you did (or will do) the Dramatic Cloak Drop (tm) with yours but on the other hand it’s too pretty to just drop onto the floor...
Uhhh ... I did it onto a chair, actually! does that count?

it is every inch as revolting as it sounds
I saw a post that had a Mark Hamill tweet that was something like “George Lucas had this plan for 7-8-9 and this movie didn’t follow that plan one bit but actually it really should have been followed.” And after seeing the movie and reading your post I’d have to agree.
Yeah, I saw that, too. He also said something a while back about his first reaction when he read the script for TLJ being something like “what have they done to Luke”. He’s been very careful to couch these sentiments in polite terms but it really doesn’t seem like Mark Hamill is happy with the direction Disney has taken things, and obviously I can see why.
What made me follow you? It was way back when you were still Mirfaen (something like that) and were posting LOTR stuff. And then you and another blogger got me to watch FMA:B.
Hehe that's right! That was more than three years ago now.... o_o I think you’re my oldest mutual, actually!
(you just reminded me I need to reread LOTR. It’s been way too long since I’ve read it, I don’t think I’ve read the whole thing since I started college!)
The problem with cinematic universes is like what’s happened with Star Wars: you got one movie that sets up things run by one director, and then the next movie run by another director might completely demolish what’s been set up. It’s kind of like what’s also been happening in Marvel’s universe (a lot more subtly though), and in DC as well (Justice League).
Yeah, maintaining consistency across multiple creators is really tricky. In the case of DC, Zack & Deborah Snyder were supposed to be a consistent presence, but obviously they backed away for personal reasons on Justice League. With Star Wars, that consistent guiding presence was George Lucas himself, who even if he didn’t write or direct each movie was always there to oversee what was, at the end of the day, his brainchild. When Disney acquired the franchise, they made a big deal about creating the Story Group which was supposed to take over that duty, but I think now we’re seeing that’s been even less successful than the mess that is the MCU.
But ultimately Disney or Warner Bros. only care about consistency to the extent that it hurts the bottom line. If people are still buying tickets and merchandise, it doesn’t matter to them if the movies are any good, or even make sense.
